Hwang In Yeop lived in Davao City, Philippines, during his high school and college years, going by the English name Ryan Leon. He graduated from high school at the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School, and later earned a Fine Arts degree in fashion design at the Philippine Women's University (formerly Philippine Women's College). During his time in Davao, he became fond of Filipino food and culture, expressing love for dishes like kwek-kwek, halo-halo, and mango float. He has mentioned that Davao holds a special place in his heart, even keeping in touch with friends from his time there.
He starred in True Beauty, The Sound of Magic, 18 Again, and Why Her, and he is currently appearing as main lead in Family by Choice, an ongoing drama.
