"When Speed Was King": Long before the completion of modern bypass roads like the Andaya Highway, navigating the Maharlika Highway (AH26) to the deep south was a rugged ordeal. JB Line earned an infamous reputation for adrenaline-pumping speed. Passengers often swapped both exciting and terrifying stories of drivers treating the highway like a roller coaster, prompting local catchphrases like "paspasero pano" (so fast!) or "maurag talaga an Bicol Express!" (The Bicol Express is truly tough!).
