“SHE WAS AN ICON, A SUPERSTAR IN EVERY SENSE”

Eminem shared a personal note Dolly Parton sent him following his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, revealing the kind words the country music icon had written to him.

In the note, Parton congratulated Eminem on his induction and praised his performance, saying that although she did not know much about rap music, she had come to know that he was “the very best at it.”

Parton also wrote about an “unexplained connection” she felt with Eminem and said she had hoped to meet him at the ceremony.

She encouraged him to keep making music, telling him he was “very special” and could touch people in ways he might not realise.

Eminem shared the note following Parton’s death at 80, saying he never got the chance to meet her but that receiving her message had a significant impact on him.

“Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense,” Eminem wrote.

“Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words.”

“HANDA AKONG SUBUKAN ULIT”

Viy Cortez opened up about the challenges she has faced in business over the past two years, saying the experience pushed her to doubt whether she should continue.

In an Instagram post, Cortez said the difficulties came alongside giving birth, making the period particularly challenging.

She recalled visiting her warehouse and seeing the employees whose livelihoods depend on the business, as well as the people who continue to support her.

“Marami pa rin akong pinagdadaanan sa negosyo ngayon,” she wrote. “Pero kung dati, hinaharap ko ang bawat pagsubok na puno ng takot, ngayon hinaharap ko na ito nang puno ng pag-asa.”

Cortez said she is now trying to rebuild “dahan-dahan, mas maingat” while carrying the lessons she has learned from the past two years.

She acknowledged that there is still much to improve, both as a businesswoman and as a person, but said she remains willing to try again.

“Handa akong subukan ulit,” Cortez wrote.

“Mas Madali Mag-Transition Kung Galing Ka sa Truth”

WATCH: During the special screening of Ang Pinakamasarap na Pares sa Balat ng Lupa at Lucky Chinatown on August 23, actor Jerald Napoles shared how his theatre background influences the way he approaches comedy and more serious scenes.

“Always come from truth,” Jerald said, explaining that actors should play the truth of a scene rather than simply trying to make the audience laugh.

He said this approach has also shaped his work with Pepe Herrera, noting that they focus on what their roles and the situation require rather than forcing the comedy.

According to Jerald, coming from a truthful and grounded performance makes it easier for an actor to shift between comedic and dramatic moments.

He also shared the lesson for aspiring performers who want to enter the industry: staying grounded in the truth of the material can help make the transition between different kinds of roles more natural.

Ang Pinakamasarap na Pares sa Balat ng Lupa, starring Jerald Napoles and Pepe Herrera, opens in Philippine cinemas on August 26, 2026, under Viva Films.

ANDROID-18 ENTERS NEW CHAPTER WITH UY RECORDS AND ENTERTAINMENT AFTER 15 YEARS IN MUSIC

LOOK: After 15 years together, Filipino pop-punk/pop-rock band Andrøid-18 is entering a new chapter with Uy Records & Entertainment (UYRE) taking on its management.

The band, which formed in Rizal in 2011, said the partnership came together naturally, with both sides placing importance on their personal connection and friendship.

For Android-18, the decision also came down to UYRE’s approach to working with artists.

“Maganda rin po kasi ’yung offer ng UY sa amin nung nabasa namin na very artist-friendly,” vocalist Gela Quevedo said during the press conference. “Art first muna kami.”

Gela said the band saw UYRE’s approach as aligned with their own vision, giving them confidence that the new management could support their creative direction.

The band’s history also reflects a close personal connection. Gela and guitarist Koy Quevedo are siblings, while several members’ musical roots trace back to playing together in church and school.

Guitarist Niokz Arcega also shared how the band got its name. When the group was being formed, the members wanted a name that stood apart from the feminine-sounding names common among female-fronted bands at the time. They eventually settled on Android-18, inspired by the Dragon Ball character.

Koy recalled that he and Gela never expected the band to last 15 years, especially as they built their own lives outside music.

“Hindi namin inexpect na aabutin kami ng 15 years,” Koy said. “Ako may sarili nang family, buhay pa rin ’yung banda.”

Android-18 is currently working on its third full-length album and is set to perform in Thailand this September alongside fellow Filipino rock band Mayonnaise.

The new management marks another step for a band that has continued to build its career through live performances, recorded music and its connection with its audience.
