DARRYL YAP DETAILS ORIGINS OF ‘LOVE NGO’ DURING TALKBACK SCREENING
Writer-director Darryl Yap shed light on the origins of VIVA Films and VinCentiments’ upcoming comedy film “Love Ngo” during a talkback screening at SM Cinema The Block on May 30.
Responding to a question about his motivation for the project, Yap said the film stemmed from a request made by Enzo Vicente, grandson of Viva Communications chairman Vic del Rosario Jr., who had taken a liking to Yap’s earlier work, “Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam.”
Yap said he was initially not planning to make the film, but later agreed to develop the screenplay after discussions with Viva Films. The script was subsequently approved, paving the way for production.
The filmmaker also disclosed that he personally selected several members of the cast, including Jerald Napoles, and sought to bring online personalities into the project.
According to Yap, “Love Ngo” was originally eyed for a later release before its schedule was moved forward, prompting the team to complete post-production on a tighter timeline.
“Love Ngo” opens in Philippine cinemas on June 03 under Viva Films.
