13U Green Knights Dominate the Month of October

The 13U Green Knights ended the month of October being the number four seed in the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) standings with a record of 6 wins to 2 losses.

The team won over St. Stephen's High School (SSHS): 62–59, Jubilee Christian Academy (JCA): 61–39, Uno High School (UNO): 93–42, Philippine Cultural College (PCC): 60–58, Pace Academy (PACE): 63–54, and Grace Christian College (GCC): 86–32, but lost at the hands of third-seeded MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGC-NLCA) : 65–75 and first-seeded Hope Christian High School (HCHS): 49–61.

By being the fourth seed, the team had a twice-to-beat advantage against the fifth-seeded JCA where they then dominated the game 72–57. Kiefer Dela Cruz and Adam Seng both had 14 points to lead the team in points, Dustin Choi finished the game with 13 boards and 11 stocks to lead the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks, while Zeke Recato dropped 4 dimes to lead the team in assists. The team had an efficient game going, shooting 42% from the field while playing incredible defense, as their opponent never took the lead during the game.

Awaiting them in the semifinals is the number one seed, HCHS, where they will have a twice-to-beat advantage against the Green Knights. However, due to bad weather, the game was cancelled and will be rescheduled on a later date. This will give the team additional time to prepare as they eye to head into the finals.

Let us all wish the team good luck and do our best to support them as they aim to head into the finals.

Judenite Secures Gold Medal Victory at Batang Pinoy 2025

After five grueling days of competition, success was served in the form of a gold medal as Aoki Teng (8C) helped the girls 12–13 years old relay team secure the win in the 4x50M Medley Relay.

When asked to give a statement on her victory, Teng commented, “I feel proud to win a gold medal, especially here in Batang Pinoy. All of my training has helped me achieve this goal in my swimming journey, and this is a career highlight for me.”

On top of this, she also shared insight regarding her overall experience, as well as additional advice to other aspiring student-athletes by saying, “I dealt with the pressure in representing Team Manila by simply focusing on myself and my swims, and doing my best throughout the meet. A piece of advice I would give to other young athletes is to never give up. When you set a goal, do everything in your power to achieve it.”

Congratulations on this accomplishment, Aoki!

What if science could not only eradicate genetic disorders but also revive extinct species? This is the reality we face now with the rise of CRISPR-Cas9. Best described as “molecular scissors,” CRISPR-Cas9 is a gene-editing tool used by scientists to precisely cut and modify DNA sequences. Ever since its discovery, the tool has continued to advance, opening doors to possibilities previously thought to exist only in the realm of science fiction.

GREEN ACES BAG THEIR FIRST SEMIFINALS WIN

With an outstanding performance in the elimination round of the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) 19U division, the Green Aces were set to compete in the semifinals, wherein they would face Jubilee Christian Academy (JCA), Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC), and MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGC-NLCA).

Last Saturday, November 8, the Green Aces completed their first semifinals assignment, defeating JCA at the PCC Annex Gym. Led by team captain Kirsten Fajarda, the Green Aces were powered by spikers Ysa Chua, Chelsea Ting, and Sofia Dela Cruz; middle blockers Kim Lim, Megan Bautista, and Sofia Riosa; and libero and defensive player, Rania Lim. They delivered an outstanding performance to guide the team to victory.

Despite feeling the pressure in the first set, falling short 13–25, the Green Aces used it as motivation to take the next set, where both defense and offense were capitalized, capping it off with a 25–19 win. In the third set, the Green Aces started strong, combining power and strategy to take an early lead. However, the JCA Warriors stood their ground and fought back to lead 24–23. Despite the pressure placed on the Green Aces, they stayed composed and closed the set with a 28–26 victory.

In the fourth set, the Green Aces started strong, scoring four consecutive points to take an early 4–0 lead. They capitalized on their serving, defense, and spikes, gaining an advantage over their opponent. At set point, Kim Lim showcased her explosiveness with a power drop, sealing the set with a 25–14 victory and winning the game with a score of 3–1. With this hard-fought victory over the JCA Warriors, the Green Aces secured their first-ever semifinal win in the FCAAF 19U division.

Chelsea Ting and Ysa Chua, who were vital players in the team’s victory, expressed their deep gratitude to the team, as well as gratefulness for the hard work that everyone put in. They expressed their pride in this victory and hope to continue bringing glory back to the school.

Let’s continue to support the Green Aces as they continue their journey to bring home the gold! Cheer them on in their upcoming matches against CKSC on November 14 and MGC-NLCA on November 15. Good luck to the Green Aces!

Saint Jude Shines at the Xavier Cup and FCAAF Badminton Tournaments 2025

October was an exciting month for the Saint Jude Catholic School Badminton Varsity Team, with the team joining two high-level tournaments: the Xavier Cup and the Filipino Chinese Athletic Federation (FCAAF). Both events saw top schools from around the community vying for victory, giving our players the chance to compete, learn, and grow as a team.

At the Xavier Cup held last October 19, the teams competed in the 13U, 15U, and 19U divisions for both the men and women. The 13U boys brought home a bronze medal after showing excellent teamwork and effort throughout their matches. It was a proud moment for the whole team and a strong start for the younger players.

A week later, on October 26, the team participated in the FCAAF Badminton Tournament held at Centro Athletico, Quezon City. This time, the team competed in the 18U boys, 18U girls, and mixed doubles events. Despite tough competition from schools like Xavier, Jubilee Christian Academy, and Chiang Kai Shek College, the team fought hard and placed 4th overall.

Both tournaments provided a great experience for all. The players were able to test their skills, face new opponents, and strengthen their teamwork. Even though there had been some difficult matches, the team showed heart, discipline, and the true Saint Jude spirit from start to finish.

The badminton team is already looking forward to more tournaments ahead, carrying the lessons and confidence gained from these matches. With their growing dedication and teamwork, the team hopes to make SJCS proud with each game played.

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲: 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗮

Emman was a ray of sunshine to many on the internet. She was a TikTok star admired for her charm, confidence, wit, and adventurous spirit. But behind the smiles, who truly knew what she was going through? Emmanuelle “Emman” Atienza, the 19-year-old daughter of renowned newscaster Kuya Kim Atienza and Taiwanese entrepreneur Felicia Hung Atienza, has sadly passed away. Her parents and countless people online were left deeply heartbroken as they mourned her loss.

𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹!

Born on February 8, 2006, Emman grew up in Manila surrounded by a loving family. From a young age, she had a passion for fashion. Online, people adored how Emman, who spoke with an English accent, would sometimes switch to Taglish in her videos. It added to her unique and bubbly charm. Many also admired how she gracefully handled criticism and remained strong through it all. But social media only showed a glimpse of her story.

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵

At 12 years old, Emman began her journey with therapy after being diagnosed with Complex PTSD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. In her interview with Toni Gonzaga on Toni Talks, she bravely opened up about her childhood trauma — being abused by her nanny, who would lock her in closets and make her fearful of her stuffed toys. Those painful experiences left her with deep trust issues and anxiety. During therapy, she often pretended to be fine, hiding her true emotions so her therapist wouldn’t feel disappointed.

She also endured intense online criticism, with her comment sections flooded with hate and bullying. People expected her to be someone she wasn’t. Despite everything, Emman founded Mentality Manila, an organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness. This showed her compassion and her desire to help others avoid the same pain she endured.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿: 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗔

In mid-2025, Emman moved to Los Angeles to pursue a course in fashion. She began sharing more vlogs about her adventures — bouldering, hiking, dancing, laughing, and spending time with her friends. She was striving to grow and heal, but her inner battles persisted. In one of her posts, she expressed that she might not make it through the end of the year. Her family later reminded that mental health illnesses do not disappear overnight.

On October 22, 2025, Emman passed away in L.A. Her passing left her fans across the world heartbroken, grieving the loss of someone who had inspired them in so many ways.

𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸

Emman’s story serves as a reminder that even those who seem the happiest may be fighting unseen battles. She wanted everyone to speak up about their struggles and never be afraid to seek help. To honor her memory, let’s continue to move forward with compassion, courage, and kindness.

Her journey tells us that everyone deserves a safe space to open up, and we should listen without judgment or bias. We must prioritize our mental health and think twice before commenting — because we never know how deeply our words might affect someone. Awareness and access to mental health care can save lives. As Emman once believed, “A little extra kindness in your life won’t hurt.”

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or having thoughts of self-harm, please remember that help is always available.

There’s a sad beauty in lighting a candle—how its flickering flame can be gone in an instant.

Early in the morning, I went to the cemetery. The slight smell of smoke and melted wax wafted through the air, giving me a feeling of strangeness yet comfort. Walking through those paths after a loss was different—to mourn someone that was such a constant presence, gone too early.

Green Aces Continue to Strengthen Their Standings in October Games

The SJCS Green Aces strengthened their season standing with victories across various leagues. The team is set to enter the quarterfinals of the U18 Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) and the semifinals of the U19 Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF).

In the U13 WNCAA league, the girls held a 2–0 record last September, having won over Miriam College (MC) and San Beda College Alabang (SBCA). This October, they played in three matches with mixed results. The team fell short 0–2 (14–25, 23–25) against Saint Scholastica’s College (SSC) and 1–2 (25–13, 20–25, 21–25) against Saint Paul College Pasig (SPCP). However, they bounced back the following week with a win against Assumption Antipolo (AA) 2–0 (25–23, 25–10), extending their record to 3–2 for the month.

Over at the U18 division, the ladies began October with a 0–2 record, but bounced back by winning two matches. Their month kicked off with a game against Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC), where they faced a tough 0–3 loss (9–25, 17–25, 11–25). This defeat, however, did not break their focus; instead, they used it as motivation to keep training, which allowed them to win against AA 3–1 (25–18, 14–25, 25–19, 35–34) and SSC 3–0 (25–10, 25–10, 25–18). These wins brought their record up to 2–3, securing 4th place in the team standings, allowing them to qualify for the quarterfinals.

October also marked the beginning of the U19 FCAAF and U14 Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) leagues. The Green Aces played a total of 10 games, winning 7 of them.

In the U19 FCAAF league, the women were unable to capitalize on their first game, losing 0–3 (12–25, 15–25, 19–25) against MGC New Life Christian Academy (MGC-NCLA). They did not let this loss affect them, and in their following match against PACE Academy (PACE), they refocused and won in a tough 5-setter (25–10, 17–25, 25–19, 21–25, 15–7). After this, they extended their winning streak by defeating Makati Hope Christian School (MHCS) and Saint Stephen High School (SSHS), both 3–0 (25–13, 25–19, 25–21; 25–8, 25–9, 25–16, respectively). These solid performances brought their record to 3–1, allowing them to enter the semifinals for the first time.

Meanwhile, in the 14U PCYAA league, the girls started strong with four consecutive 2–0 wins against Philippine Cultural College (PCC) (25–12, 25–6), UNO High School (UNO) (25–14, 25–12), SSHS (25–8, 25–17), and HOPE Christian High School (HOPE) (25–18, 25–10). In the latter two matches, the team put up good fights, but fell 0–2 against MGC-NCLA (16–25, 18–25) and Jubilee Christian Academy (JCA) (13–25, 20–25). Nonetheless, they ended the elimination round with a 4–2 standing, enough to tie them with SSHS to fight for the second seed of the league.

This October, the Green Aces truly displayed grit, perseverance, dedication, and hard work, allowing them to capitalize, win, and strengthen their standings in several leagues. Let us continue to cheer them on as they face more matches this season — Good luck to the Green Aces!

LOOK: Judenite Community Attends Procession in Honor of Saint Jude Thaddeus

Members of the Saint Jude Catholic School (SJCS) community gathered for a procession to commemorate the feast day of Saint Jude Thaddeus, last October 26, 2025.

The procession was attended by teaching and non-teaching personnel, SVD priests and administrators, students from Grades 10, 11, and 12 (SHS and IBDP), representatives from the Parents' Auxiliary Group (PAG), as well as parishioners and devotees of the National Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus.

From 2:50 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., participants prayed the Holy Rosary and sang Marian hymns as they walked from the SJCS campus towards Mendiola. The procession concluded at the National Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus, where Rev. Fr. Peter Mei Li, SVD, led a short prayer and bestowed a blessing upon those gathered.

Ms. Kintana Rose Soloria, a teacher from the JHS faculty, shared, “The procession was more than walking while praying; it strengthened our faith and hope that in everything we do, we always have guidance from God and Saint Jude Thaddeus. As Saint Jude is known as the patron saint of desperate causes, it was the simplest but meaningful way for us to honor and celebrate him.”
