SA TUWING may legal na isyu, ang daming nagsasalita. May mga abogado, may mga eksperto, at may mga ordinaryong Pinoy na parang laging may alam sa batas. Pero sa totoo lang, sa dulo, iisang grupo lang ang may final say at ito ay ang Korte Suprema.

Ayon sa ating Saligang Batas, ang 15 justices ng Supreme Court lang ang may kapangyarihang magsabi kung tama ba ang proseso, kung naaayon ba sa Konstitusyon ang isang hakbang, at kung paano dapat ito i-interpret. Hindi ang Pangulo, hindi ang Senate President, hindi ang mga congressman, at lalong hindi ang netizens.

Kaya sa impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, malinaw ang dapat na gawin. Igalang ang role ng Supreme Court. Anuman ang paniniwala mo sa politika, may proseso tayong sinusunod. Rule of law ang pinanghahawakan natin kaya ang tamang gawin ay maghintay sa magiging desisyon ng Korte Supreme.

Pero siyempre, may ilang grupo na ayaw maghintay. May iba pa nga na nagsasabing ginagamit daw ang Supreme Court para i-delay ang impeachment trial. Hindi ito makatuwiran. Una, hindi basta-basta nadidiktahan ang Supreme Court. Hindi ito sunod nang sunod lang sa Senado, sa Kongreso, o kahit sa popular na opinyon.

May ilang kontrobersiyal na desisyon ang Korte Suprema noon, oo. Pero paulit-ulit na rin nitong pinatunayan na ang basehan ng kanilang ruling ay batas at hindi kung sino ang makapangyarihan o kung ano ang trending.

Meron din nagsasabi na ituloy na lang agad ang trial kahit may kaso pa sa Korte Suprema. Pero paano kung sabihin ng Supreme Court na unconstitutional ang proseso? Anong mangyayari sa trial? Tatanggapin ba ng mga nagsusulong nito ang ruling?

Diyan nasusubok ang prinsipyo. Madaling sumigaw ng “rule of law” kapag pabor sa iyo ang takbo ng laban. Pero kung hindi pabor ang desisyon, handa ka bang sumunod pa rin?

Sa isang demokrasya, ang respeto sa kapangyarihan ng bawat sangay ng gobyerno ang nagsisiguro na may balance at order. Ginampanan na ng Senado ang role nito sa pamamagitan ng pagkilala sa hurisdiksiyon ng Korte Suprema. Ngayon, panahon na para hintayin ang magiging pasya.

Kapag nagdesisyon na ang Korte Suprema, dapat tanggapin natin ito, whether pabor ka man o hindi sa impeachment. Dahil ang batas ay batas at ang pagsunod dito ang tanda ng isang gumaganang demokrasya.

MAHIGIT apat na buwan matapos ang insidente ng pagbagsak ng Sta. Maria Bridge sa Cabagan, Isabela, ngunit hanggang ngayon nananatiling walang inilalabas na opisyal na resulta ng imbestigasyon ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) o ang Senado.

Dahil dito, nanawagan ang publiko at netizens para sa malinaw na pananagutan mula sa mga sangkot sa proyekto.

Noong 27 Pebrero 2025, bumigay ang bahagi ng Sta. Maria Bridge habang tinatawid ng isang overloaded na dump truck na may bigat na mahigit sa 100 tonelada, dobleng mahigit sa pinapayagang 44 tonelada. Anim ang nasugatan sa insidente.

Matapos ang insidete, agad iniutos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., ang masusing imbestigasyon at nagbabala na “dapat may managot.” Tinukoy ng Pangulo ang maling disenyo at overloading bilang mga pangunahing salik sa pagbagsak ng tulay.

Sa mga ulat at sumbong na kumakalat online, ilang dati at kasalukuyang opisyal ng DPWH ang binabanggit ng publiko:

• Eugenio Pipo, dating Assistant Secretary for Operations, tinukoy na nagpatuloy sa proyekto kahit may problema sa disenyo at hindi umaksiyon kahit hindi naipapadaang maayos ang natapos na tulay.
• Usec. Ador Canlas, na sinabing nag-apriba sa retrofitting design kahit hindi umano masusing sinuri.
• Usec. Cabral, naglaan ng pondo para sa retrofitting matapos matukoy ang mga depekto sa tulay.

Lumalabas din ang alegasyon na ginamit ang bahagi ng pondo ng proyekto sa ibang bahagi ng tulay upang umano’y pagkakitaan, imbes ayusin ang mga depektibong bahagi ng superstructure.

Sa kabila ng pangako ng pagbusisi sa nasabing insidente ay wala pang inilalabas na resulta ang DPWH hanggang ngayon. Dahil dito, aktibo ang panawagan ng mga netizen at mamamayan sa social media na ilabas ang mga dokumento ng imbestigasyon, lalo ang mga hawak ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

“Ang tulay na ’yan ay pinondohan ng buwis ng mamamayan. Karapatan naming malaman kung sino ang responsable.”

May mga panawagan na gawing pampubliko ang lahat ng ulat ukol sa proyekto at isama ang historical records ng disenyo, konstruksiyon, at retrofitting.

Ayon sa DPWH, patuloy pa ang kanilang internal investigation sa ilalim ng pamumuno nina Usec. Anne Sharlyne Lapuz at Usec. Eric Ayapana. Ngunit wala pa rin ulat o press release na inilalabas ukol sa resulta.

Wala rin inilalabas ang Senate Blue Ribbon Committee ukol sa mga hakbang kung may isasampang kaso laban sa mga sangkot sa proyekto.

Patuloy ang panawagan ng taong bayan na magkaroon ng pananagutan sa insidente. Sa kawalan ng ulat at pagsisiwalat, lumalakas ang hinala ng publiko na may itinatago ang ilang opisyal.

Umaasa ang publiko na tutuparin ng administrasyon ang pangakong “heads will roll” at hindi hahayaang malimutan ang insidente.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has conferred honors to exemplary technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs in the country through the agency’s System for TVET Accreditation and Recognition (STAR) Awards Program.

The recognition was awarded during the 7th National Quality TVET Forum held on July 8 at the Hilton Manila Hotel, Pasay City, with the theme ““Empower, Innovate, Transform: Cultivating the Growth Mindset in TVET for a Sustainable Tomorrow”.

TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez underscored the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in the TVET system and highlighted that these awards reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to quality, accountability, and future-ready skills development.

“To ensure that our policies, processes, and procedures [remain relevant], from curriculum to instruction to assessment, we are continuously improving and aligning with industry standards and global benchmarks,” Sec. Kiko said.

“Let us continue to strengthen our systems, embrace a growth mindset, and promote excellence in every training center across the country,” added the TESDA chief.

The STAR Awards Program recognizes training programs that have exceeded the minimum registration requirements set by TESDA. The STAR Program has 4 categories, with the lowest “Candidate Status” given to training programs with identified weaknesses, and the highest “Three Stars” awarded to those that present standards substantially above the threshold of competency-based training programs. This year, 54 training programs being offered by 34 public and private tech-voc institutions were conferred with the STAR Award.

Receiving the higher, Two Stars level of the awards for their training programs are Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades (for Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS) NC II); Regional Training Center – CALABARZON (for Organic Agriculture Production NC II and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I); and, Provincial Training Center – Bilar (for Cookery NC II).

One Star awardees include TESDA - NAVOTAAS Training Institute (Refrigeration and Air - Conditioning Servicing (DomRAC) NC II); Regional Training Center - National Capital Region (Mechatronics Servicing NC II and PV Systems Installation NC II); IGAMA Colleges Foundation, Inc. To recognize the outstanding achievements of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Region 1, the Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST Region 1) conducted an on-site evaluation for the Calendar Year 2025 Search for the SETUP 4.0 Awards for MSMEs and the SETUP Praise Awards from July 7 to 10, 2025.

The regional evaluation mission, covering all four provinces of Region 1, was spearheaded by the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of DOST Region 1, led by Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Ms. Racquel M. Espiritu and Ms. Adelisa Florendo, SETUP Regional Coordinator for DOST Region 1, along with RPMO support staff.

The following SETUP-assisted firms were visited and evaluated during the on-site assessment: Bakers PH from Ilocos Norte; Malakas Farm Livelihood Development Enterprises, Nutridense Food Manufacturing Corporation from Pangasinan and Jaypee’s Bakeshop from La Union - nominated for the SETUP Praise Award; Costales Ricemill from Ilocos Sur nominated for the I-Ready Award (Most Industry 4.0 Ready);NIKS Printing Shop from Ilocos Sur, which was nominated for the ICON Award (Industry 4.0 Champion of Innovation). These enterprises showcased their technological upgrades and innovations made possible through the assistance of DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).

The evaluation process included site inspections, interviews with business owners and staff, and a thorough review of the enterprise's innovation practices, technology adoption, productivity gains, and alignment with Industry 4.0 standards.

To ensure transparency and objectivity in the evaluation process, a panel of external evaluators was convened to join the on-site assessments. The panel was composed of Mr. Francis Gerald Amansec, Senior Economic Development Specialist; Dr. Arnelie G. Laquidan, Associate Professor V; Dr. Ismael Gurtiza, member of the Regional Technical Evaluation Committee (RTEC); Atty. Romina Boado-Cabrillos, Board Secretary VI; and Ms. Annalie L. Rosales, also a member of the RTEC. Their collective expertise contributed to a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the nominated SETUP-assisted firms.

The SETUP 4.0 Awards aim to highlight MSMEs that have demonstrated significant technological and operational improvements through DOST’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP). The SETUP Praise Awards, on the other hand, recognize firms that have shown exceptional commitment and performance in implementing their innovative strategies.

The awardees are carefully screened and selected by the panel of evaluators, and the official representatives of Region 1 will be recognized during the upcoming CEST and SETUP Summit in August 2025. Hydration is important when preparing for a blood donation, which should occur weeks or even months in advance. If you’re eyeing to donate, remember to keep your handy water bottle with you and go ahead to meet your hydration goals.

Being hydrated prior to and on the day of blood donation helps keep your blood pressure steady and makes the process safer and quicker.

𝟑. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞
Who doesn’t love a good shut-eye? Aim for at least seven to nine (7-9) hours the night before to have a smoother donation.

Donating blood is one of the best excuses to wear your comfiest clothes!

To ensure your arm remains accessible, wear loose clothing and a top that allows you to easily roll up your sleeves. Cozy clothes help you stay relaxed during the donation.

𝟔. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝
You’ll need identification at most donation sites. Some places also ask for your blood donor card. Remember to keep them handy!

𝟕. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬
For now, skip the runs or your workouts. It’s best not to engage in any hardcore gym sessions before or right after donating.

The sight of a needle or blood or just the excitement of spreading social good might make you feel giddy, and that’s all okay. Just talk to the nurses, doctors, and other volunteers at the site, and they’ll be more than happy to help you calm down and relax.

AMINADO si Yasmien Kurdi na nami-miss na niya ang showbiz.

Pahayag niya, “Yes po namni-miss ko ang showbiz, pero alam ko na malaki ang mawawala kung hindi ako magfo-focus sa kalagayan ng aking mga anak.”

Ang huling project na kanyang ginawa ay ang “The Missing Husband” noon pang 2023. Co-stars dito ni Yas (nickname ni Yasmien) sina Rocco Nacino, Nadine Samonte, Jak Roberto, Joross Gamboa, at iba pa.

Si Yas ay produkto ng original o first batch ng Starstruck 1 sa Kapuso Network. Siya ay masaya sa piling ng asawang piloto na si Rey Soldevilla at sa mga anak na sina Ayesha at Raya Layla Soldevilla.

Pansamantalang nagpahinga sa showbiz ang Kapuso actress nang isilang ang pangalawa at bunsong anak na si Raya Layla.

Inusisa namin siya kung ano ang kanyang priority sa buhay.

Tugon ng Kapuso actress, “Ang priority ko talaga ay ang aking pamilya, dahil nagtatrabaho ako para sa kanila. Pangalawa ay ang aking kita mula sa trabaho o negosyo, kasi alam kong ito ang tumutulong na sumuporta sa kanilang pangangailangan.

“Hindi ko paiiralin ang aking career kung ang aking mga anak ay nagdurusa. Wala rin kuwenta ang mga kinikita ko kung nakikita kong naaapi sila.

“Ang tunay na sukatan ng tagumpay ko ay ang kanilang kasiyahan at magandang kalagayan,” mariin pa niyang pahayag.

Mas nag-focus sa pamilya si Ms. Yas nang ang kanyang eldest daughter ay nakaranas ng pambu-bully sa dating school niya.

Nang kumustahin namin si Ayesha, sinabi ng aktres na ongoing pa rin ang therapy sessions ng anak. Ayon pa sa kanya, “Pinuno ko siya ng maraming activities upang maging busy siya at mapanatili ang kanyang sigla sa katatapos lang na summer.”

Pagdating pa rin sa usapang showbiz, ano ang kanyang dream role?

Esplika niya, “Gusto kong gawin ang isang role na very timely, inspiring, at may impact sa society… mga ganitong proyekto na tulad ng isang sundalo o police officer. Gusto ko rin maging bahagi ng isang period drama, na may kinalaman sa kasaysayan.”

Sino pa ang actors na wish niyang makatrabaho?

“Ang dami kong gustong makatrabaho. Gusto kong makatrabaho ang mga taong hindi ko pa nakatrabaho at mga artistang mula sa ibang network. Kasi hindi pa kami nabibigyan ng pagkakataon na magkatrabaho noon, dahil nasa iba’t ibang network kami.”

Sa ngayon ba ay may niluluto nang TV project sa kanya?

“Wala po akong project na gagawin. Pero ang gusto ko sana, iyong project na may relevant issues na makare-relate ang mga tao.

“Puwede rin na isang project na sci/fi and mental/psychological movies or series,” sambit ng aktres.

If may offer na mag-guest sa mga TV series, payag naman daw si Ms. Yas.

“Okay lang naman po sa akin iyon, basta okay iyong role na ibibigay sa akin… Gaya ng sabi ko po, iyong nakai-inspire or challenging gampanan,” pakli pa niya.

MULI na naman kaming pinahanga ng bandang Innervoices nang mapanood sila na nag-perform sa Tunnel Bar, Parqal Mall, Paranaque City, noong Miyerkoles ng gabi.

In fairness naman kasi, ang huhusay nilang tumugtog, at ang ganda ng boses ng lead vocalist nila na si Patrick Marcelino. At kahit marami siyang kinakanta ay hindi siya napapagod,huh! At hindi rin nag-iiba ang ganda ng kanyang boses.

Swak na siya ang napili ng founder/manager at member din ng Innervoices na si Atty. Rey Bergadobilang kapalit ng dati nilang front man.

Siyempre, kasama sa kinanta ni Patrick ang latest single nila na Meant To Be, na si Atty. Rey ang nag-compose. In fairness, ang ganda ng lyrics at melody ng song, at madali lang itong kabisaduhin.

Naki-jamming kay Patrick si Atty. Rey. Kinanta niya ang unang bahagi ng pinasikat na kanta noon ni Gary Valenciano na 'Di Bale Na Lang, at si Patrick na ang nagpatuoy at tumapos ng song.

Kasama rin sa reportoire ng Innvervoices ang mga top hit noong 80's gaya ng Footloose, Always Something There To Remind Me, I Just Can't Get Enough, Just Got Lucky at marami pang iba. Kaya naman ang audience, gaya namin na isa sa mga invited press ay humataw sa sayaw.

WALANG pinagsisisihan si Ryza Cenon sa naging desisyon niya noon na umalis sa GMA 7 para lumipat sa ABS-CBN, kahit pa hindi siya nawawalan ng proyekto bilang Kapuso.

Hit na hit noon ang afternoon series niyang Ika-6 na Utos, kasama sina Sunshine Dizon at Gabby Concepcion, pero pagkatapos nga nito ay nag-ober da bakod na siya sa Kapamilya Network.

“Para siyang weather for me. May maganda, may masaya. Basta po iba-iba. May sunshine, may bagyo, may rainbow.

“May mga ganoong feeling po habang ginagawa siya. Ibig sabihin hindi siya ganoon kadali. Mahirap po siyang gawin,” pagbabalik-tanaw ni Ryza habang ginagawa ang Ika-6 na Utos.

Hindi rin nila alam kung ano ang susunod na mangyayari sa serye,. “Biglang magugulat ka na lang ‘pag naroon ka na, ‘Ah, ito pala ‘yung weather ngayon.'”

Pagkatapos ngang umere ng kanilang serye ay nagdesisyon si Ryza na lisanin na ang GMA 7.

“Sinabi ko naman po na parang gusto kong mag-explore. Gusto kong lumaki pa po, lumawak pa po ‘yung mundo ko. Like, gusto ko pong gumawa ng pelikula. Gusto ko pa pong makakilala, makatrabaho pa po ng ibang artista,” esplika ni Ryza kay Kuya Boy Abunda sa show nito.

“Pero hindi naman po ako umalis ng GMA na basta umalis na lang. Nagpaalam po ako ng maayos. Umakyat po 'ko sa itaas. Inisa-isa ko po sila (na kausapin) para magpaalam po,” aniya pa.

Hindi rin naman naging madali ang umalis sa kanyang mother network pero aniya, may mga pangangailangan din naman siya at ang kanyang pamilya.

"Siyempre, ako po, tao lang din po ako. May pangangailangan din po ako. Breadwinner din po ako, so kailangan ko rin pong kumita. So, isa rin po ‘yun sa rason,” katwiran pa niya.

Maraming bumatikos kay Ryza nang iwan niya ang GMA para lumipat sa ABS-CBN, “Dinedma ko na lang po. Kasi hindi naman po nila alam ‘yung buong istorya.”
