A Day In Life Of A 1950 Farmer

I woke up on me bamboo bed
the woven mad with the first raise of the sun
peeking through the bamboo walls
the air was cool
and the roosters were already announcing the new day
time to get up
my wife Maria was already preparing the food
a simple breakfast of canon rice into your dried fish
the smell alone made my stomach rumble
after a quick wash with water from the clay jar
I put on my farming shirt
rolled up the sleeves and grabbed my trusty bolo
Today the rice fields awaited
with a quick blessing I headed out to the fields
our Carabao was already waiting patiently
he's my partner in this life
strong and loyal the sun was getting hotter
but we had to plow the fields
prepare the soil for planting
it was back breaking work
but seeing the rich dark earth ready for the seedlings
made it all worthwhile
sometimes neighbours would join us
helping us you know
working together
sharing stories and helping each other out
that's how we did things back then
we planted the seedlings carefully
making sure each one had enough space to grow
lunch was a simple
packed lunch of more rice and some vegetables
eaten under the shade of a mango tree
the afternoon was spent tending to the fields
weeding and making sure the irrigation channels
were flowing smoothly
my partner and I worked until the sun started to set
our bodies tired but our hearts content
as the sun dipped below the horizon
we made our way back home
the air was filled with the sounds of crickets
in the soft glow of the moon
Maria had prepared dinner
a hardy senegang with fresh vegetables from our garden
after dinner we'd sit on the porch
watching the stars and talk about our day
sometimes we'd sing old folk songs
or I'd tell stories to the kids
it was a simple life but it was our life okay
we lived off the land grateful for its bounty
for sleep
a quick prayer of thanks for the day's blessings
for the day's blessings then back to the bamboo bed
ready for another day
life as a farmer in 1950 it wasn't easy
but it was filled with hard work
community
and the simple joys of a life connected to the land

WHY LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP FAIL?

Why do long distance relationships fail? Because they're hard. You have to put in the work. You have to be intentional.

You have to make it a priority. And most people don't want to do that.

Like imagine this.

You're in a long distance relationship and your partner is like, "Hey, I'm moving to another city."

That's great. That's exciting. But what does that mean for us? Does that mean that we're gonna be closer?

Does that mean that we're gonna be able to make this work?

Or does it mean that you 're just gon na get lost in the shuffle of a new place and new people?

And I think the hardest part about long distance relationships is the constant uncertainty, wondering if they're still there, wondering if they still care, wondering if they still love you.

And if you're not careful, those doubts can creep in and they can grow and they can become all consuming.
