Forgotten Island π΄β¨π
Iβve been waiting for this movie for a long time. I really wanted to support Liza Soberano , and I genuinely want to see her succeed in Hollywood. So yes, Iβm rooting for her all the way. π«Ά
Not being biased, but I really loved the story, especially the representation of Filipino culture and mythology. The references are everywhere in the opening scenes, but I appreciate how they become more subtle as the story progresses. It doesnβt feel like the movie is trying too hard to explain Filipino culture to the audience, which makes the story more universal and relatable. The theme of friendship is also something everyone can connect with π€
The scoring and pacing were great. And βNever Tear Us Apartβ by Sophia (of KATSEYE) was such a perfect fit for that particular scene. π₯°
The animation is another thing I really appreciated. The film successfully brings Nakali to life as this mystical, colorful world. The color palette immediately demands attention, and I especially loved the hybrid animation style, combining 3D computer-generated imagery with 2D traditional and anime-inspired aesthetics.
It was visually entertaining from start to finish. And I have to sayβ¦ Manang was actually scary. π
But what really stayed with me was how heartfelt the movie was. It transitions beautifully from bright and colorful moments to darker, more emotional scenes, with the visuals and atmosphere matching the mood perfectly.
And yesβ¦ it made me shed a tear. π₯Ή
We deserve movies like this, and Forgotten Island deserves our support. π΅ππ
If you have the chance, I highly encourage you to watch it on the big screen. Letβs support Filipino stories, Filipino talent, and films that showcase our culture and imagination to the world. π¬β¨
