World Breastfeeding week
August 1-7
This journey hasn't been easy. It's been full of sacrifices, determination, dedication and a whole lots of love.
Breastfeeding isn't free.
It cost sleepless nights and cracked ni***es,
It cost hours spent pumping, nursing.
It cost missed meals, missed shower, missed moments of rest.
It cost time, it cost energy,
It cost physical pain, emotional exhaustion and mental battles you can't see.
It cost carrying the pressure of being the only source of nourishment.
It cost sitting alone while others sleep, eat or relax, because my body is the one keeping my baby alive.
So NO. Breastfeeding isn't free.
It's paid for in piece of a mother's body, heart and soul.
I've doubted myself. I've wanted to quit.
But I kept going.
Breastfeeding is beautiful, YES, but its also sacrificial and lonely at times.
Breastfeeding is beautiful, YES, but its also one of the hardest thing I've ever done.
It's not always peaceful or picture-perfect. But it is powerfull.
To the Mamas who have pumped, who are pumping, who've had stop. I see you. This is hard. And we are incredible.
And I'm proud of me. I'm proud of us.
