Celebrating the roots that shape us and the cultures that bring us together. 🤎

On this day, August 9, we honor the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples—celebrating the heritage of over 476 million people from over 5,000 cultures worldwide, including the rich traditions of the Philippines’ own Indigenous communities like the Ifugao, T’boli, Palawano, Iraya and Aeta.

Their ancestral knowledge, artistry, and deep connection to the land have shaped our identities and nurtured generations. From preserved farming practices to respected spiritual traditions, their contributions continue to enrich the cultural tapestry of the world. 🌎

In empowering indigenous people (IP) and their heritage, we must demand that the government fully recognize their rights and their ancestral lands, focus on IP community and educational development, shield them against displacement and harassment, and strongly uphold the laws made to protect IPs. 🌿
