Enrollment Soars by 31% as TES Welcomes Junior High Learners and Transitions to an Integrated School
TANEG, MANKAYAN– Taneg Elementary School has achieved a major milestone as enrollment surged to 275 learners as of June 5, 2026, marking a 31% increase from last year's total enrollment of 210 learners.
The impressive growth comes as the school officially opens Grade 7 and Grade 8, paving the way for its transition from Taneg Elementary School (TES) to Taneg Integrated School (TIS). This historic development has expanded educational opportunities for learners in the community, allowing them to continue their studies closer to home.
The addition of the junior high school program significantly contributed to the increase in enrollment, with 36 learners enrolled in Grade 7 and 13 learners in Grade 8. Together, these new grade levels account for 49 learners and represent a major step forward in the school's commitment to accessible and continuous basic education.
Enrollment data show strong participation across all grade levels:
Kindergarten – 26
Grade 1 – 45
Grade 2 – 26
Grade 3 – 27
Grade 4 – 36
Grade 5 – 33
Grade 6 – 33
Grade 7 – 36
Grade 8 – 13
The school's enrollment profile also reflects growing community confidence and learner retention. Of the 275 enrolled learners, 170 are continuing students, demonstrating the trust families place in the school. The school also welcomed 28 transferees, 70 newly enrolled learners in Kindergarten, Grade 7, and Grade 8, and 7 Balik-Eskwela learners who returned to continue their education.
This remarkable increase is more than just a number—it is a testament to the school's expanding role in the community and its readiness to provide quality education from elementary through junior high school.
