𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗡 | CFES, nagdaraus ng buwanang pagpupulong

Hinikayat ni Acting Dean Prof. Atty. Renato S. Pacaldo, PhD ang mga Faculty, Staff, at Student Leaders ng College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES) ng Mindanao State University para sa buwanang pulong na ginanap sa CFES Audio Visual Room, ika-13 ng Oktubre, 2025.

Layunin ng pagpupulong na talakayin ang apat na pangunahing agenda, kabilang ang mga Update sa Faculty Development Plan, ang Legitimization ng CFES Strategic Planning, at ang pagrerebisa ng BS Forestry Curriculum, na mahalaga sa kasalukuyang operasyon at pagsunod ng Kolehiyo sa COPC compliance.

“We will involve our students in every monthly meeting, as this is effective in transitioning to the new face of the CFES under my administration,” ani Prof. Atty. Pacaldo.

𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗡 | MSU-Marawi Student Publications, nagpulong para palakasin ang Press Freedom

Nagsagawa ng pagtitipon ang mga Editor-in-Chief (EIC) kasama ang ibang mga membro ng student publications ng iba’t-ibang kolehiyo sa Mindanao State University-Marawi kabilang ang The Conservator ng College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES) kaninang 1:30 ng hapon, ika-10 ng Oktubre sa Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Conference Room. Ginanap ang pagpupulong upang palakasin ang pagkakaisa at itaguyod ang campus press freedom na naglalayong paigtingin at ipagkaisa ang mga pahayagan sa ilalim ng isang nagkakaisang pagkakakilanlan bilang campus journalists sa unibersidad.

Nag-isyu ng pormal na memorandum ang Office of the Dean ng College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES) na nag-aatas sa lahat ng estudyante ng AFC/ENV/FOR198 at 199 na dumalo sa Undergraduate Thesis Orientation alinsunod sa BOR Resolution No. 208, Series of 2025 na nagtatakda ng “Guidelines for Undergraduate Thesis of MSU-Marawi” kaninang umaga ika-10 ng Oktubre sa CFES-Audio Visual Room.

Magulo. Hindi kaakit-akit. Walang ka kulay-kulay. Ganto namin ilarawan ang aming buhay kung wala ang pangalawang mga gabay — ang ating mga g**o. Ang ilustrasyon ay repleksyon sa aming tiyak na kahinatnan kung wala sila.

Ngunit ang tila baliktad na mundo ay naging tuwid sa tulong nila. Ang bawat kasanayan ay hinasa, at ang bawat pagkakamali ay itinama. Ang pagkakaiba ng bawat mag-aaral ay tinanggap at pinagkaisa. Sa tulong ng mga g**o, ang bawat aksyon na ginagawa ay nabigyan ng diwa.

Ang hindi matanaw na bukas ay naging malinaw. Ang nakasanayang gulo ay naglaho. Ang bawat leksyon na inyong binibigay ay naglaan ng kulay sa aming di-mahulaang bukas.

Ang bawat salita na aming isinusulat ay bunga ng inyong paghihirap at bawat larawan na ipinipinta ay resulta ng inyong pagsusumikap. Ang inyong paglahad ng tulong ay nag ambag sa aming matingkad na bukas.

Lugod na pasasalamat sa aming mga minamahal na g**o dahil ang pasaway ay naging mahusay dahil sainyong mga pag sa-sanay.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Environmental Science Students Convene at Department Orientation

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) recently participated the department orientation today, October 4, 2025, in the afternoon at the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies - Audio Visual Room (CFES - AVR).

The program commenced with the opening remarks of Jehan Grace Lachica, MSc, setting a positive tone for the program. Following this, Assoc. Prof. Kaleb P. Arreza, MSc introduced the esteemed faculty members of the Environmental Science Department who will guide students throughout their academic journey. Eight notable faculty members has been introduced, namely: Dr. Mark Joseph J. Buncag, EnP, LPT, MSc, Gideon D. Binobo, Assoc. Prof. Melencio C. Jalova Jr., Assoc. Prof. Habagat G. Mariano, Nathalie Claire Paracueles-Sajulga, Mark Gregory Q. Rule and Jehan Lachico, MSc, and himself.

Dr. Buncag gave the orientation about BSES. There were two main objectives of BSES according to him: (1) to produce graduates needed in environmental protection, conservation, and management, and (2) to produce professionals capable to solve complex problems. The program's history was also traced, it began in 1990, adopting a multidisciplinary approach. It emphasizes interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning, classifying Environmental Science as a normative science.

Assoc. Prof. Arreza introduced some of the various job opportunities of the BSES. Under government organization, an Environmental Science student graduate may be interested to work in DENR-EMB, DENR-CENDRO, DENR-PENDRO, DENR-Regional Office, DOST, DSWD, LGU, and NFA. In private sectors, some are the Ayala Corporation, Asia Development Bank, Visa Philippines, Mining Company, and many others. Other profession includes environmental planners, lawyer, doctor, freelance, and business owner.

"Environmental Science was not my first choice, but as days goes by, I'm starting to enjoy this program, and it was amazing, great, wonderful, and it is worth pursuing because the world needs environmental science students like us! ", said Joshua dela Torre, a junior student, encouraging the attendees to continue what they started.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | CFES spearheads Strategic Planning and Team Building 2025

The College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES) of Mindanao State University, Marawi (MSU-Marawi) conducted its Strategic Planning and Team Building 2025 on September 25–27 at Kawayan Cliff Resort, Initao, Misamis Oriental, attended by CFES faculty, administrative and support staff, student-organization representatives, and the acting dean Dr. Atty. Renato S. Pacaldo PhD, RPF, with a collaborative effort to structure an escalated college-based direction and performance.

With the theme “Strengthening Research, Extension, Curriculum, and Faculty Development in the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies,” the event aligned the college’s programs with the university’s strategic goals and the administration’s 9-point agenda through a set of four different workshops that answered: “Where are we now?”, “Where do we want to go?”, and “How do we get there?”

Alongside, team building through scrambled members per team from faculty, staff, and students was organized and intended to strengthen the foundation of the relationships amongst them.

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | Bagong gabay, sa panibagong lakbay

Galak. Lito. Gulat. Lungkot.
Mga emosyong bumalot sa bawat mag-aaral, kawani, at g**o ng Kolehiyo ng Pangkagubatan at Pag-aaral Pangkapaligiran sa pagtanggap ng bagong administrasyon. Sa apat na taong pag serbisyo ni Assoc. Prof. Abdul-Nasser D. Lomantong, MSF, RPF bilang isang dekano sa kolehiyo ay ipapatuloy sa unang semestro ngayong taong akademiko sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Dr. Atty. Renato S. Pacaldo, PhD, RPF. Ito ay mahalagang hudyat sa bagong landas na tatahakin at matatamasa ng mga kasapi sa komunidad. Bagong taong akademiko, bagong dekano, bagong transisyon.

Sa panibagong lakbay, handa ka na bang sumampa sa barko na may bagong kapitan tungo sa di-mahulaang hinaharap? Sa pormal na pagpasa ng susi ng responsibilidad sa bagong dekano, ang paligid ay napuno ng nakakabinging palakpakan na tila nagsusumigaw ng pag-asa at pagsusumamo para sa mas matingkad na bukas. Kapansin-pansin ang iba't ibang emosyong namayani sa bawat isa.

Ang malalakas na palakpakan ay nagpapahiwatig ng pag-asa at positibong pagtanggap. Ngunit sa likod ng mga palakpak, mayroong iba't ibang reaksyon na nagpapalabas ng kanilang mga saloobin. Ito ay dahil bawat kaanid ay may sariling hangad para sa kolehiyo.

Bagong administrasyon, bagong misyon? Sa bawat panimula, asahang may kakaiba, kung kaya’t laging may kaakibat na pangamba. Ang anumang pagbabago ay may nakahandang hamon. Ang posibilidad na magpatupad ang bagong administrasyon ng mga patakarang salungat sa nakasanayan ay nagdudulot ng pangamba sa ilan. Hindi madali ang biglaang pagbabago ng direksyon, at ang transisyon ay nangangailangan ng matalinong pagpaplano at masusing pag-aaral.
Bilang tugon dito, ipinahayag ni Dr. Atty. Pacaldo ang kanyang pilosopiya: “One CFES, One Family.”

Sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan, naniniwala siyang ang anumang balakid o suliranin ay kayang lagpasan. Ang susi, aniya, ay ang malinaw at tuloy-tuloy na komunikasyon sa pagitan ng administrasyon at ng komunidad sa kolehiyo.

Ang bagong simula ay hindi dapat tingnan bilang isang babala, kundi isang pagkakataon. Maging “Internationally, nationally, and locally relevant CFES” ang hangad ng bagong administrasyon, at makakamtan lamang daw ito sa tulong at partisipasyon ng bawat nasasakupan dahil ang naglalayag sa barkong may bagong kapitan ay hindi maliligaw ng landas sa tulong at gabay ng mga taong nakasakay.

General Orientation at Turnover Ceremony sa College of Forestry and Environmental Studies (CFES) ay isinagawa para sa Academic Year 2025-2026 ngayong Setyembre 19, 2025 sa CFES Grounds, Mindanao State University–Main Campus, Marawi City, na dinaluhan ng mga studyante, g**o at kawani.

Naghatid ng pasasalamat ang dating dekano at kasalukuyang Assoc. Prof. Abdul-Nasser Lomantong, MSF, RPF, sa mga g**o, kawani, at sa mga estudyante. Ipinasa niya ang pamumuno kay Dr. Atty. Renato S. Pacaldo, PhD, RPF, na naglatag ng kanyang mensahe ng pagkakaisa sa ilalim ng motto na “One CFES, One Family.” Samantala, tinalakay sa orientation ang iba’t ibang mahahalagang paksa: inilahad ni College Secretary Asst. Prof. Randell Keith Amarille MSF, RPF, MSc ang kalahatang impormasyon tungkol sa CFES; ipinaliwanag ni Department Chairperson Asst. Prof. Ricmar P. Magarin, MSF, RPF, ang mga pangunahing patakaran at pagpapakilala sa mga g**o; ipinresenta ni Fstr. Borhannoden M. Nasif ang mga kawani; habang ibinahagi ni Asst. Prof. Jayson Leigh Segovia, MiSDS, EnP, RPF, ang mga direksyon ng pananaliksik. Nagpaliwanag din si Ms. Fatha R. Bato tungkol sa paggamit ng aklatan at mga alituntunin nito, at tinalakay ni Fstr. Noraisah A. Dibaratun ang mga polisiya patungkol sa GAD o Gender and Development.
