YMPN STATEMENT AGAINST THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT'S ATTACKS IN OCCUPIED PALESTINE
We at the Young Moro Professionals Network (YMPN), a civil society organization composed of Young Moro Professionals in the Philippines, strongly condemn the violent attacks being carried out by the Israeli government against innocent civilians, especially women and children, in occupied Palestine.
On May 9, a peaceful protest across East Jerusalem was met with a violent crackdown by the Israeli police leaving 17 people wounded including one Palestinian paramedic, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
It further escalated when Israeli police forcibly entered the Al Aqsa masjid during the holy month of Ramadan and mercilessly fired upon the worshippers, leaving hundreds of Palestinians wounded. In addition, the Israeli air raids resulted in the deaths of at least 30 Palestinians, including 10 children and 3 Israelis.
This blatant display of disproportionate, unjust and unnecessary use of state-sponsored force and superior military power against civilians and places of worship not only violates the International law but the foundation of our shared Humanity regardless of religion, race, creed, or political ideology.
What is happening in Palestine is not a civil war, it is state-sponsored violent extremism perpetrated by the Israeli government.
Whether Muslim, Christian or Jewish-Palestinian lives matter.
We call on the International Community of peace-loving citizens to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians and to urge the Israeli government to stop their disproportionate use of force in this conflict.
The merciless attacks on civilians in their place of worship and forced removals from their homes is not an act of self-defense; it is pure political greed and inhumane.
May Peace and Justice prevail in Palestine and the rest of the world.
