BGFeature | The Beauty of Palawan Honored in Marist JHS

The Araling Panlipunan Department of Marist Junior High School (JHS) celebrated the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Palawan through a meaningful cultural program that shed light on the dangers of illegal wildlife trafficking.

With the theme “Bayong for a Cause,” the event aimed to educate the Marist community while honoring the diverse traditions and stories of the province.

The program opened with a lively Tarok Dance performed by the Marist Tanghalang Kultural from the Middle School Department, followed by a compelling video presentation featuring the local products and culture of Malutok, Palawan.

A key highlight of the event was the Lakbay-Kultural, a pride walk symbolizing the collective effort of the Marist community to preserve Palawan’s natural and cultural beauty. Students from each grade level came together to express their solidarity with the indigenous communities of the region.

The event not only celebrated cultural identity but also promoted environmental responsibility—reflecting the school’s continuing commitment to education and nation-building.

BGNews | Newly Elected JHS MSCB Officers Pledged Leadership

Under the roof of the High School Covered Court, the Junior High School (JHS) department commemorated the debut of the newly elected Marist School Coordinating Body (MSCB) officers.

The program opened with the presentation of certificates by Br. Mark Roberth Laurea, FMS, Ms. Shellah Tabayoyong, and Mrs. Imelda Carmona, recognizing the students and staff who made the MSCB season possible. This was followed by the oath-taking of the new officers, accompanied by their parents who served as Bible bearers during the solemn pledge.

To symbolize the passing of leadership, medals were placed on the officers as Br. Mark Roberth Laurea, FMS, Marist School President and Principal, bestowed upon them the duties and responsibilities of true Marist servant leaders—serving as both a light and a guide for the newly elected.

Concluding the ceremony, former MSCB President Sanja Gusto formally handed down the golden key to newly elected President Carlos Yglopaz, marking the start of a new chapter of service and leadership in Marist School Marikina.

Teacher’s Day may be over, but our gratitude for them remains.

Their dedication and sacrifices remind us how far they’ve brought us, shaping us into the people we are today. Through every challenge we’ve faced, there has always been a teacher by our side—supporting, guiding, and believing in us no matter what.

To all the teachers out there, we once again wish you a Happy Teacher’s Day!
May this wall of appreciation remind you of our heartfelt thanks and love for all the effort you’ve given us.

ICYMI | Flowers in Eucharist: Marist School Marks 3 Milestones in Holy Mass

“Mary is the path that leads to Christ.” – Fr. Carl Masip, Camillian

Gathered under the roof of the Br. Marius Doherty Gym, the Marist family celebrated three milestones this Friday of the 26th Week in Ordinary Time, October 3, 2025: the launch of the October Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the closing of the Season of Creation, and the opening of the Marist School Athletic League (MSAL) 2025.

The celebration opened with a Floral Offering and procession in honor of Mary, reminding Maristas to look to her as the Good Mother. In his homily, Fr. Carl Masip, emphasized three traits to live by: watch, obey, and walk with Jesus—values that call the community to live faithfully and remain rooted in Christ in their daily lives.

Highlighting these milestones, the Mass also urged Maristas to renew and reflect on their commitment as stewards of creation and to embrace sportsmanship, unity, and gratitude for God’s gifts through the MSAL season.

A testament to the core values as Marists of Champagnat, may this Eucharist call upon the community to live a life of prayer and faith. Ad Jesum per Mariam!

| The Torchlight Amidst the Torrent: MSAL Opening 2025

Marist School Marikina officially opened the Marist School Athletic League (MSAL) 2025 on Friday, October 3, beginning the day with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Chants and drumbeats filled the Br. Marius Doherty Gym as each homeroom proudly paraded their banners and jerseys. The ceremony’s preliminaries included the Opening Prayer led by Aleesa Marie Leal, the National Anthem performed by the Champagnat Voices of the Philippines, and welcoming remarks from Br. Mark Roberth R. Laurea, FMS, School President and Principal.

The traditional Lighting of the Torch then ignited the Marista spirit—burning bright with passion and competition. The Oath of Sportsmanship, led by JHS MSCB President Carlos David Yglopaz, affirmed everyone’s commitment to unity and fair play.

The program also featured a performance from the Marist High Impact and the awarding of pre-tournament contests: Best in IntroVid, Banner Design, and Uniform Design.

With MSAL 2025 formally declared open, the season now promises to be a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and the enduring Marist spirit.
