JAPAN FOUNTAIN PEN HAUL CAME HOME EARLY! ✨️

These were a 7.7 purchase and honestly, I thought they’d arrive during the last week of July. I was so surprised and excited when I saw they were marked for delivery today!

My very first fountain pen (which I got just last month 🤣) was part of the PILOT Kakuno Family Series, the "Sister Pink". It was amazing right off the bat, and well, it’s what got me to fully dive into the fountain pen world. Fast forward to me wanting another pink Kakuno, specifically the one from the Madoromi series. Of course, it is just as reliable, and I can say the J. Herbin Rouge Opéra ink matches it perfectly 💯

Now for the SAILOR pens. These were the ones I was looking forward to the most. I've read so many great reviews that I thought at least one of the two Sailor pens would replace my first Kakuno as my daily writer. Well... I got my hopes up way too high.

The Sailor Lecoule, although smooth, wasn't AS smooth as the Kakuno, and the MF (Medium-Fine) nib is a bit too thick for my regular writing preference. It’s a good pen, but I’ll most likely only use it for filling out forms, signing documents, or taking quick notes.

The Sailor Tuzu is the one I'm most disappointed about. It did not write well at the start. It was too thin for a Fine nib, incredibly scratchy, and the ink flow was poor, meaning I had to do some troubleshooting. Right now, it's finally writing with the thickness you'd expect from a Fine nib and the ink isn't skipping, but it’s still too scratchy for my liking. Honestly, some of my Jinhao pens write smoother than this. I'm hoping it just needs to be broken in with some regular use to smooth it out.

This was a workshop I took around Jan/Feb and the pieces finally arrived today. I'll try to make a video about the experience soon (If I find where I stored the footage haha)

Thank you so much for hosting such a fun event✨️

Jinhao + Majohn Haul Review ✨️

Story Time:
I realized while buying my inks that I couldn't keep refilling my fountain pens just because I needed a colored pen. So I opted to try out the cheaper pens for my colored inks, and keep my more expensive pens for black ink... aka the color I'll be writing on 90% of the time.

Read lots of reviews and settled on Jinhao 82 which had a lot of mixed reviews but mostly good, and I thought since I only write headers and key words with colored ink I wouldn't mind if it didn't write 100% like my more expensive ones.

Review:
Jinhao 82 - Yeah the reviews didn't lie it was a hit or miss with the nibs cos half of them were smooth half were scratchy. The very first one i tried was super duper scratchy. I'll write with it some more maybe it needs some warming up.

Jinhao 9016 - Great from the start! Just a bit thick. The Fine is as thick as the Medium.

Majohn A1 - I don't know if its a me error since I inked with cartridge for this one but it didn't write. Had to dip the nib just to get some ink in. It's to be seen if I need to buy a converter for this. Writing wise it was ok, it was so heavy though but it kinda writes like your typical thick gel pen.
