Hello everyone. I would like to share my submission for the GameDev.tv Game Jam 🎮

Reconnected: Family Reunification Plan is a browser-based prototype developed using HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript, built within 10 days.

I am a solo indie game developer working on game development on the side under Pintig Laro Games. This project is part of my ongoing learning journey through game jams—this is my second game jam experience, where I continue to focus on improving my ability to build and finish playable prototypes within limited timeframes.

During development, I also focused on a modular approach to the code structure, breaking systems into smaller reusable components to make iteration and debugging easier within the jam constraints.

This is still an early build and not a fully polished release, but I would like to share it with the community for feedback and learning purposes.

You may try it here:

Any feedback or suggestions from fellow developers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Rescue, rebuild, reunite.

Devlog #4: Teacher-Facilitated Gameplay Integration Devlog #4: Teacher-Facilitated Gameplay Integration

In this update, the game is now designed to be more than just a standalone experience—it can actively be used by teachers as a facilitation tool during lessons. Instead of students playing passively, teachers are encouraged to guide the experience in real time, creating a more interactive and collaborative learning environment.

Before starting, teachers can organize students into groups, assign group names, and have each participant choose a player name. This setup encourages ownership and teamwork right from the beginning. As the game progresses, teachers can pause between scenarios to ask questions, prompt discussion, or let groups explain their choices. This allows learners to reflect on why certain items belong in an emergency go bag and how those items apply to specific disaster situations.

The game also supports guided decision-making. Teachers can challenge students to justify their selections, compare answers across groups, or introduce constraints such as limited resources to deepen critical thinking. By doing this, the classroom transforms into a simulation space where students actively engage with disaster preparedness concepts instead of simply memorizing them.

This update reinforces the idea that the game is not just for play—it’s a flexible teaching tool. Teachers remain central to the experience, facilitating discussions, encouraging participation, and adapting the gameplay flow based on their class needs.

DEVLOG #3 — Early Completion System + SEO Title Update DEVLOG #3 — Early Completion System + SEO Title Update

Progress on Emergency Go Bag ng Buhay this week!

New Feature: Early Completion System Players no longer need to wait for the timer to finish. Once all items are placed into the kits, the game now instantly ends and records the player’s performance. This makes the experience more skill-based and rewarding, especially for faster players.

Gameplay Improvements

Added automatic detection when all items are placed
Integrated early game completion (no more idle waiting)
Improved flow between Level 1 to Level 2
Cleaner feedback loop for player actions

SEO Update — Game Title Optimization To improve discoverability on Google, I refined the project title to include clearer keywords:

Old Title: Emergency Go Bag ng Buhay

Updated Title: Disaster Survival Game : Emergency Go Bag ng Buhay Simulator Challenge

This change helps the game appear when users search for disaster preparedness games, emergency simulation games, and survival training tools.

Next Goals

Add result popup (score and speed rank)
Implement leaderboard system
Improve mobile UX and feedback animations

Thanks for following the development. More updates coming soon.

Devlog #2: Mobile-First Dialogue System (VN Style Upgrade)v0.2: I’ve been working on improving the lesson intro scene to make it properly mobile-friendly.

The main goal was to:

Make the layout responsive on mobile devices
Allow players to tap anywhere to continue dialogue instead of using keyboard input

These changes make the intro feel smoother and more natural for mobile players.

However, there’s still an issue on some devices (like Samsung A02s) where the game automatically shifts into a landscape-like layout, even though it’s designed for portrait mode.

Currently investigating viewport and layout behavior to fully resolve this.

More fixes coming soon.

NEW GAME PROTOTYPE RELEASE

I’m excited to announce the release of Emergency Go Bag ng Buhay: Disaster Preparedness Simulation — now available to play in your browser.

This project is a game-based learning experience designed for NSTP–CWTS students, where players face real-life disaster scenarios such as fires, earthquakes, typhoons, and home emergencies.

Learn by doing:
• Pack the right Emergency Go Bag, Everyday Carry (EDC), and First Aid Kit
• Make fast decisions under pressure
• Experience the consequences of your choices

This is currently a prototype version, and I’m actively working on improving gameplay, visuals, and expanding scenarios. Your feedback will play a huge role in shaping the future of this project.

This project is part of my academic research and aims to promote disaster preparedness through interactive learning.

Thank you for supporting Pintig Laro Games.

🔥 Fire Icon Creation using Inkscape (Free & Open Source) 🔥

I was able to create a fire icon using Inkscape, a free and open-source tool for vector art. If you’re interested in learning how I made it step-by-step, you can watch the tutorial here:

🎥 Tutorial: https://youtu.be/bgXu1FWyH6A?si=hK8_PXmTbu46AlXi

This is also a great chance to introduce beginners to vector art 👇

🧠 Simple explanation:

Vector art is artwork made from shapes and math, not pixels—so it stays sharp no matter how big or small you scale it.

That’s why vector art is perfect for icons, logos, UI elements, and game assets—especially if you want clean visuals without losing quality.

If you’re an indie dev, artist, or beginner designer, tools like Inkscape prove that you don’t need expensive software to start creating 💪🎮
