PRO 5 DEPLOYS PERSONNEL TO BARMM IN SUPPORT OF BPE 2025
The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) has deployed 100 personnel to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in support of the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) 2025. These personnel, specially trained as electoral board members, will help ensure the safe, secure, and orderly conduct of the elections scheduled for May 12, 2025.
The composition of the deployed personnel comes from various units under PRO 5, including the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) with eight personnel, Albay with 26, Camarines Norte with 19, Camarines Sur with 15, Catanduanes with 14, and Masbate with 18. These personnel will be stationed in BARMM for 20 days to fulfill their electoral duties.
A send-off ceremony for the contingent was held on April 27, 2025, at the PRO 5 Grandstand, Camp BGen Simeon A. Ola, Legazpi City. The ceremony was presided over by PBGEN ANDRE P DIZON, RD, who addressed the deployed personnel and reminded them of their critical role in this historic electoral exercise.
In his message, PBGEN DIZON urged all personnel to remain grounded in their sworn duties by upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and discipline. He emphasized the significance of their mission. This election will mark the conclusion of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), which has served as the interim regional government of BARMM since the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law in 2019.
The deployment of PRO 5 personnel is part of the broader national effort to support the elections in BARMM, given the political sensitivity and historical importance of the region’s first parliamentary election. PBGEN DIZON all the deployed personnel to perform their duties with impartiality and dedication, ensuring that the elections are conducted freely, fairly, and peacefully, in line with the PNP’s commitment to safeguarding democracy.
