Super happy si Inay at Tatay seeing you enjoy your Kumon journey, Celesteen. 🤍
Matagal ko na talagang gustong i-enroll si Celesteen sa Kumon. Since prekindergarten pa lang sya, pero lagi akong naghe-hesitate.
Iniisip ko noon, Baka maaga pa para sa kanya.
Until now na nag enter ka na sa Kindergarten, and I realized something, hindi pala talaga madaling magturo sa sariling anak.
Siguro may ibang parents na sasabihin, “Madali lang naman magturo, baka tinatamad ka lang.”
But I know how hard it was for us.
Kahit ipasa pa kita kina Tita mo para sila ang magturo, umiiyak ka pa rin kapag tumatagal na yung study time, and aminado naman akong may mga pagkakataong nagkakainitan din tayo ng ulo.🤣
And that was something I never wanted you to associate with learning.
Ayokong dumating yung time na ang maalala mo kapag sinabing “study” or “learning” ay pressure, iyak, o parusa dahil nahihirapan ka.
Kaya nung dinala kita sa Kumon, I was honestly curious kung makakatulong ba talaga sya sa atin.
During your assessment, halos lahat ng sinabi sa akin ni teacher is yung mga areas na kailangan mong ma-develop, yung goals for your reading journey, at maging yung mga habits na kailangan mong ma-build and unti-unti ko syang nakita sa’yo.🥹
One thing that Teacher Maita told me during our one-on-one interview really stayed with me.
Sabi niya, there will always be a concern kapag pinasok ang isang bata sa ganitong learning program nang maaga. May magsasabi na “Baka masyado pang bata,” or “Baka mahirapan siya.”
And honestly, iyon din ang fear ko noon.
Pero sabi niya, mas mahalaga ring isipin kung ano ang mangyayari kapag dumating ang time na nahihirapan na ang bata sa classroom dahil hindi pa niya nabuo ang foundation at study habits na kailangan niya.
Doon ko narealize na hindi naman pala laging “masyado bang maaga?”
Minsan, ang tanong din ay, “Ano ang kailangan ng anak ko ngayon para mas maging ready siya habang lumalaki?”
At hindi naman ibig sabihin na kailangan madaliin ang bata.
For me, it’s about giving her the right support at the right pace without making learning feel like a punishment.
And seeing Celesteen now, excited to learn and looking forward to her Kumon days, I think that’s one of the best things I could have hoped for.
You look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays because it’s Kumon day.
Excited kang pumunta.
Excited kang gumawa ng worksheets mo at home.
At lagi mo pang tinatanong,
“Inay, 1 PM na ba? Kumon time na ba?" 😂
And honestly, those little things make me so proud.
Not just because you’re learning.
Not just because I’m seeing your progress.
But because you’re learning to enjoy learning.
I’m slowly seeing you become more independent, too. You’re learning how to sit down, focus, finish your worksheets, and take responsibility for your own study time.
Minsan umiiyak ka pa din lalo if nakakaabsent tayo sa Kumon time dahil sa mga gatherings or something🤣 tapos naiipon ang worksheets mo hehe 😅
And for me, that is something worth celebrating.
Because my goal in enrolling you was never just for you to learn how to read or answer worksheets.
My bigger goal is for you to develop a healthy study habit something you can carry with you as you grow.
I know we still have a long way to go. There will still be days when learning feels difficult, and there will definitely be days when you won’t feel like doing your worksheets.
But seeing you enjoy the process today makes Inay and Tatay incredibly proud. 🤍
To the moms who are also struggling to teach their little ones at home, I just want to say this:
Na minsan may mga kids na kelangan ng different approach when it comes to studying or learning, one that works better for them and for us as parents.
For us, finding the right learning environment made a big difference.
I’m sharing this not because I’m saying Kumon is the answer for every child. Every child is different.
But if you’re also considering Kumon for your little one, maybe you can have them assessed first and see where your child is at. For me, the biggest thing I gained from this experience is not just seeing my daughter learn.
it’s seeing her enjoy learning. 🥹
And as a mom, that’s one of the things I’m most proud of.
And to Teacher Maita, Teacher Dan and the whole KUMON LIPA Learning Center - Uptown thank you for creating a learning environment where Celesteen feels encouraged, supported, and most importantly, happy to learn. 🤍
