Leptospirosis is a serious illness caused by bacteria that contaminate water or soil with the urine of infected animals, often rats.

You can get it through open wounds or when you wade in floodwaters.

✅ Avoid walking in floodwaters
✅ Wear boots if unavoidable
✅ Clean and cover wounds
✅ Keep surroundings clean
✅ Don’t swim or bathe in dirty water
