To tighten their grip on the 2025 midterm elections and ensure that no opposition, particularly Duterte-backed candidates, can challenge their rule.

This is no baseless speculation. We have seen this playbook before. Just look at what happened to Mabel Acosta at the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA). With barely any explanation, she was removed—proof that Marcos and his operators have no hesitation in using extra-legal methods to purge those who stand in their way. If they could do it in MinDA, a relatively minor agency, what’s stopping them from doing it in COMELEC, the institution that controls the very foundation of our democracy?

If Marcos succeeds in hijacking COMELEC, the 2025 elections will be nothing more than a scripted charade, a rigged game where only Marcos-approved candidates can win. ❎ Pre-arranged Election Results – With their own people in COMELEC, Marcos’ operators can ensure that voting machines, vote transmission, and canvassing all favor their candidates. The results could be predetermined even before a single ballot is cast.
❎ Disqualifications and Legal Attacks on Opponents – Expect Duterte-aligned candidates and other anti-Marcos figures to be bombarded with disqualification cases, trumped-up legal charges, and “technical” issues preventing them from running. This will not be a fair election—it will be an elimination game.
❎ Massive Cheating at the Local Level – Governors, mayors, and local officials will be pressured to deliver votes for Marcos candidates, knowing that a compromised COMELEC will protect them from any scrutiny.

This is the moment where the Filipino people must wake up. If Marcos pulls this off, 2025 will not be an election—it will be a coronation of dictatorship.
