The announcement was made during his address as guest and resource speaker at the Inaugural Session of the 8th City Council held on Thursday, July 3. The mayor emphasized the administration's commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind in receiving much-needed aid and support and eventually will fuel the economy.
It can be recalled that prior to the elections, Congressman Cheeno Almario personally requested DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian to allow Barangay Chairmen to sign the list of beneficiaries per barangay for the release of the ECT. This after the former mayor refused to sign the list.
However there were barangays still unserved because the former mayor and the chairmen politically aligned with her still refuse to endorse the lists.
During the campaign, Almario said that if he wins he will ask DSWD Sec. Gatchalian to allow him to sign as the new mayor.
" So May 15, 2025, 3 days after the election, I called Secretary Rex Gatchalian of DSWD informing him na ako na ang mulingkod na Mayor, pwede na ba ko mupirma? This afternoon, ming abot ang DSWD diri sa Mati ang Regional Office telling us that the schedule for release of ECT for those barangays na wala pa na relesi will be on the first week of August." Mayor Almario said.
" I will sign because that is for the 24,000 ka tao sa Mati who will receive P9,960 each that will fuel the local economy" he added.
