Holy Week, the week before Easter and the most solemn week of the Christian calendar, is when Christians primarily reflect on the final week of Jesus's life. Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. For Roman Catholics worldwide, the Lenten Season, also known as Semana Santa, is a time of year when many festivities are commemorated. It begins on Easter Sunday, which is regarded as the biggest feast of the church year, and ends with the remembrance of Christ's 40-day fast in the desert and rejection of Satan's temptations. In the Philippines, where Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, this is a noteworthy yearly religious celebration. As it is known, Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week, is celebrated by followers waving palm branches, which represent Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The culmination of Lent is Easter, when Christ rises from the dead after being crucified by the Romans. This is commemorated with a joyous occasion that is typically held during a morning service with a representation of the Resurrected Christ seeing His mother, Mary.
