Dreams Take Flight: CSA-Mati Holds Graduation for Grade 12 Students

The Grade 12 students of Colegio San Agustin-Mati, Inc. celebrated a special day in their lives as they graduated in a meaningful ceremony held at the school lobby.

One of the most inspiring parts of the graduation was the message from the guest speaker, Ma’am Liezel C. Padua. She is a hardworking and smart woman who showed the graduates that with effort and faith, dreams can come true. Ma’am Padua was once a Salutatorian at Mayor Luisito Garcia Rabat Memorial School. She studied at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy and later took up a degree in Mathematics at Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology. She continued to study and finished her master’s degree and other studies while helping schools as a leader in education. Now, she works as a Public Schools District Supervisor in Mati City, helping teachers and students grow.

Another touching moment was the valedictory speech by Princess Xymiee Luis, the top student of the class. She shared how their journey was not easy but full of lessons. One line from her speech that stood out was: “Be it also a reminder to always clap for someone else’s success because we never know it’s our turn next to be clapped for our own success.” Her message taught everyone to be kind and happy for others, because one day, it will be their time to shine too.

To end the ceremony, the graduates sang their graduation song, “Hiraya” by Seedee. The song talked about dreams and hope, and it made the moment even more special.

As the graduates step into a new chapter, they carry with them the love of their school, the wisdom of their teachers, and the dreams they are ready to chase.

RECOGNITION DAY: HONORING EXCELLENCE

On April 23,2025, Colegio San Agustin – Mati, Inc. held its annual Recognition Day, celebrating the hard work and achievements of its students. The event was split into two parts—a morning ceremony for Grade 1 to Grade 5 students, and an afternoon celebration for Junior and Senior High School students— Grades 7, 8, 9, and 11.

The morning program took place at the school lobby, led by School Director Rev. Fr. Leo Mario F. Singco, OSA, and School Principal Ms. Vina Grace D. Mabandos. Students were recognized not only for their academic excellence but also for their values, behavior, and character, molded by the Augustinian education they receive.

Teachers, parents, friars, and fellow students joined together to witness this proud moment.

Across both celebrations, students were honored not just for what they’ve achieved, but for who they are becoming—persistent, dedicated, and guided by the core principles of the Augustinian way of life. Their excellence does not merely lie in awards, but in the values they live out daily.

To all our recognized students: congratulations! Your journey has only begun, and may your success continue to inspire others in the spirit of unity, truth, and love.

Here's to the fruitful school year and to more milestones ahead!

In a heartfelt expression of thanksgiving and faith, Colegio San Agustin – Mati, Inc. held its annual Baccalaureate Mass for graduating and completer students on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the CSA Lobby. The sacred celebration was presided over by the Most Rev. Abel C. Apigo, D.D., along with the concelebrating priest Rev. Fr. Leo Mario F. Singco, OSA and the assisting deacons Rev. Nemie Boy R. Cataluña, OSA, and Rev. Bryan B. Bermejo.

In his homily, Bishop Abel highlighted the vital role of Catholic education in nurturing the whole person. “It takes a village to educate a child,” he said, emphasizing how Catholic schools foster human formation, intellectual formation, and spiritual formation. He reminded the community that “Catholic schools are showing their capability of nurturing the whole person,” preparing students not just for academic success but for a meaningful, faith-filled life.

The bishop also reflected on the solemn news of the passing of Pope Francis, whom he described as the shepherd of the Church. “We are saddened in the passing of the shepherd of the Church in the person of Pope Francis,” he shared, offering a moment of collective mourning and prayer. Yet in the same breath, Bishop Abel shared a message of courage and conviction: “Hope does not disappoint.”

Speaking directly to the graduates, he said, “The future depends on your enthusiasm.”
Morever, Bishop Abel said, “Whenever I do Baccalaureate Masses, I am always inspired because in front of me are the embodiment of hope… When we see children, young people with flesh and blood, we see the embodiment of hope,” tying his message to this year’s theme: “Augustinians: A Generation of Unity, Synodality, and Agents of Hope.” His words painted a powerful vision of the youth as torchbearers of transformation, unity, and unwavering faith in the Church and society.

The Mass gathered students from Preschool, Grade 6, Grade 10, and Grade 12, along with their parents, teachers, staff, and administrators, in a moving celebration that honored not only their academic journey but also their spiritual growth. With hearts full of gratitude, the community came together to lift up prayers for guidance as the graduates prepare to enter the next chapters of their lives.

One of the solemn highlights of the celebration was the blessing of medals, certificates, and diplomas, symbolizing the fruits of the students' hard work and perseverance. Bishop Abel also led the incensation of the image of St. Augustine and the offering of flowers, acts that deepened the spiritual connection of the occasion and emphasized the importance of faith in academic pursuit.

The Baccalaureate Mass served as both a rite of passage and a reminder of the Augustinian values that the graduates will carry with them beyond the walls of CSA. It was a moment not only of celebration, but also of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to living a life rooted in truth, unity, and love.
