𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Leaders from various student organizations gathered on March 6, 2026 (Friday) at the SOA Office for a comprehensive all-organization meeting aimed at strengthening inter-organization ties and aligning strategic objectives for the upcoming school activities.

The meeting was spearheaded by Mr. Jason P. Torillo, In-Charge of the SOA Office, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity among organizations in ensuring the successful implementation of campus initiatives. He highlighted that cohesive planning and open communication are essential in addressing shared concerns and maximizing each organization’s strengths.

Representatives from different organizations includes Supreme Student Council (SSC), Hospitality Student Society (HOSTS) of College of Business Management, Association Braced Together for Interactive Kiñeticos (ABTIK) of Bachelor of Physical Education, Culture and Arts Society (CAS) of Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, Panan-aw Publication, Inter-Varsity Young Ambassador for Christ Fellowship (IV YACF), and Technology and Livelihood Education Organization (TLEO) of Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education were present during the assembly.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | BPEd Conducts STRATS Seminar to Strengthen Teaching Skills of Future Educators

The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) program conducted a seminar for future teachers on Resource Application and Teaching Strategies (STRATS) on March 6, 2026, at the Student Development Center (SDC). The seminar aimed to provide BPEd students with a deeper understanding of the various strategies and resources needed in the teaching profession.

Present at the event was the Dean of the College of Education, Ma’am Carie Ann C. Padrique, who delivered the opening remarks. In her message, she emphasized the importance of classroom management in teaching. She also shared the line, “You will know once you cross the bridge,” which means that future teachers will learn many valuable lessons once they begin their journey in the real classroom setting.

The BPEd faculty members served as the resource speakers for the seminar, including Sir Vermilo Montes, Ma’am Mary Joy Globio, Ma’am Kate Gunda, and Sir Jon Martin Bajado, who shared their expertise and practical insights in teaching.

The event was successfully organized by the ABTIK officers, the official organization of BPEd students, under the leadership of their president, Mr. John Carlo Gabiana.

𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐔–𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐄𝐋 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬

The Young Educators League (YEL) of ESSU–Maydolong successfully conducted its General Assembly for Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) students on March 6, 2026, at the Criminology Building. The activity was attended by BECEd students from first year to third year.

The event opened with a prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The program then continued with an energetic Zumba activity led by the YEL officers, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere among the students.

The Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Carrie Ann Padrique, delivered a message to the participants, encouraging them to actively engage in the organization’s initiatives. During the program, the meaning and purpose of the Young Educators League were also discussed, highlighting its role in promoting camaraderie, cooperation, and leadership among future educators.

The assembly also featured an intermission number performed by the BECEd 1 students through a song presentation. Dr. Michelle Azura, YEL Adviser and BECEd Program Head, discussed the policies and goals of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program, emphasizing the importance of developing competent and passionate future educators.

Meanwhile, Jan Klarenze Anjielle Batula, YEL President, and Rasel Duran, YEL Treasurer, presented the organization’s accomplishment and financial reports. Another intermission number was performed by the BECEd 3 students, adding entertainment to the program.

The event concluded with parlor games that brought enjoyment and excitement to the participants, making the assembly both informative and entertaining for everyone.

𝐏𝐀𝐏𝐒𝐀𝐒 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 2 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬

ESSU–Maydolong student leaders participated in the second day of the PAPSAS Leadership Summit and Conference, March 6, 2026, at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City, which continued with three insightful sessions aimed at strengthening the capacity of student leaders to navigate leadership roles with confidence, responsibility, and efficiency.

The day opened with a session led by Dr. Ervina Espina, University Associate Professor at University of the Philippines Tacloban College, who discussed “Stepping Forward – Lead with Confidence While Earning Trust and Professionalism.” In her talk, Dr. Espina presented various leadership frameworks that guide student leaders in stepping up during challenging situations within their institutions. She emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and integrity while exercising leadership, highlighting that trust and credibility are key elements in effective student governance.

The second session was facilitated by Atty. Rosalyn Aquino, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at St. Paul School of Professional Studies, who delivered a discussion titled “Know the Line – Lead Boldly While Staying Within the Rules.” Atty. Aquino elaborated on the legal foundations that safeguard the rights of student leaders as they advocate for student welfare. She stressed that while leadership requires courage and strong advocacy, it is equally important for leaders to understand legal boundaries and institutional policies, particularly when engaging in activism. Her session also included an interactive workshop where participants performed role-play activities demonstrating appropriate ways to assert the rights of the student body while remaining within legal and institutional limits.

Concluding the series of discussions was Prof. Oliver Daiz, Director for Marketing and Communication at St. Paul School of Professional Studies. In his session, he introduced practical strategies and digital tools that can help student leaders manage their responsibilities more efficiently. Prof. Daiz encouraged leaders to maximize available digital platforms and media tools to streamline organizational work and reduce burnout. Emphasizing the value of strategic leadership, he reminded participants that effective leadership is not about working harder, but about “working smart.”

Through these sessions, the summit continued to equip student leaders with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to lead confidently, responsibly, and strategically in their respective institutions.

Student leaders from Eastern Samar State University–Maydolong Campus joins in the 3rd Regional Student Leadership Summit and Conference organized by the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. (PAPSAS) held on March 5–7, 2026, at the Summit Hotel Tacloban.

Representing the campus were Ronald Capones, President of the Supreme Student Council; Jelaiza Gesite, Vice President of the Supreme Student Council; and Kryz Franzyne Azura, Editor-in-Chief of Panan-aw Publication.

The three-day leadership summit and conference commenced with a Eucharist Mass followed by a welcome message by Mr. Lowe S. Taña, President of the PAPSAS Region 8. Following this is the message of the keynote speaker, Dr. Maximo Aljibe, Regional Director of Region 8. During his speech he highlights the significance of the student leaders in this generation, as they are not the leaders of tomorrow but of the present. He also signifies that leadership is not merely about the position but about service, apathy, the rise of mediocrity, and impacting the lives of the people. "Humility is the best ingredient as a leader," he added.

After the knowledgeable speech of Dr. Aljibe, Hon. Jude Acidre, Tingog Partylist Representative, delivered his message as guest speaker. He outlined the fundamental principles of effective leadership: the Will to act, the Wisdom to plan, and the Witness in living. He further emphasized that consistency and compassion are essential leadership qualities that ensure warmth and understanding reach even the most distant members of the community, regardless of differing perspectives.

The first session of the summit was formally opened by Dr. Marcon Espino, Dean of the School of Accountancy, Business, and Management at National University–Clark. His discussion on “Organizational Branding: Identity in Action” focused on how leaders represent their organizations through their behavior, accountability, decisions, and core values.

The opening day concluded with the performance of the official theme song of the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. Region VIII. Overall, the discussions emphasized the importance of identity and authenticity, highlighting that staying true to one’s core values is a vital component of effective student leadership.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | ESSU-Maydolong BSHM Students Complete Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training

Two-day program equips future hospitality professionals with homegrown service standards

Bringing together passion and professionalism, fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students at Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) Maydolong Campus recently gathered at the Student Development Center (SDC) for an energizing two-day Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training. Split into two batches—February 26 for the first group and February 27 for the second. The program aimed to equip future hospitality leaders with homegrown service standards.

The training opened each day with a prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, setting a foundation of respect and national pride. Dr. Kevin Z. Dacules, BSHM Program Dean, delivered the opening message, followed by Ms. Liv Kirstie Sulse outlining the training house rules before introducing resource speakers from the Department of Tourism (DOT). To foster teamwork and rapport among attendees, students participated in interactive icebreaker activities prior to the formal discussions.

The DOT speakers covered key topics including the Philippine Tourism Industry Situationer, the development journey of FBSE, the 7M’s of Filipino Hospitality, and the Service Excellence in Tourism.

In the afternoon, the program continued with a discussion on the G.U.E.S.T Steps to Service Excellence which provides a structured approach to creating positive guest experiences. Another icebreaker activity preceded the final talk on the H.E.A.R.T of Service Recovery, designed to help professionals address and resolve customer concerns effectively.

Subsequently, Ms. Sulse distributed survey forms to all students to gather feedback for continuous improvement. Then, certificates and tokens of appreciation were presented to the resource speakers and DOT representatives in recognition of their contribution. Next, Atty. Paquito Hegel Costuna, Campus Legal Officer, shared a message of support for the students and afterwards, Ms. Dona Joy Saballe delivered the closing remarks. The event then concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to each BSHM student.

On February 20, 2026, the Students Development Center buzzed with energy as first-year students from the Bachelor of Elementary Education program gathered for an engaging Ukulele Workshop facilitated by Mr. Ricky Alde, where the joy of music filled the air.

The workshop aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge and essential skills for playing the ukulele. Kicking off with an informative orientation, Mr. Alde introduced participants to the different parts of the instrument and proper handling techniques. Following this introduction, students received guided instructions on tuning, playing basic chords, strumming patterns, and various applications.

With a focus on hands-on practice, the workshop ensured that all attendees were actively engaged and developing their musical skills. The interactive learning environment fostered a spirit of cooperation and creativity among the participants, as they encouraged one another throughout the session.

The Ukulele Workshop achieved its goal of promoting musical awareness and skill enhancement among students. It served as a meaningful co-curricular activity that supported the holistic development of the participants.
