𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 – 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀

The Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) – Maydolong Campus successfully organized a Reorientation Seminar dedicated to Basic Civil Service Rules and Related Policies last September 5 held at the Campus Library, and participated by all employees of ESSU-Maydolong.

The seminar began with a warm welcome from Ms. Monina Balios, who highlighted the importance of the event in fostering a knowledgeable and ethically-driven workforce. She encouraged attendees to utilize the insights gained during the seminar to enhance their commitment to public service.

To kick off the day’s activities, BPEd student Ms. Ana Marie Palce led a lively Zumba session, infusing energy into the crowd and setting a positive tone for the subsequent learning sessions.

Following the invigorating workout, Ms. Vicky Mae Duque, Head of the Human Resource Management Office, introduced guest speaker Mr. Jason Thaddeus
Tan. He delivered an insightful discussion on Republic Act No. 6713, which establishes the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

Mr. Tan covered critical topics such as Prohibited Acts and Transactions, which include the solicitation of gifts, misuse of government resources, conflicts of interest, and the management of confidential information. He also stressed the importance of adhering to relevant government regulations, including the annual filing of Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) and the imperative to divest from conflicting interests.

The seminar concluded with an open forum, allowing participants to engage in discussions and clarify various aspects of policy implementation. This successful initiative reinforced the ethical standards and responsibilities expected of public servants at the university, underscoring ESSU-Maydolong’s commitment to fostering a culture of integrity and professionalism among its staff.

The Eastern Samar State University - Maydolong Campus celebrated "Viernes han Ika Karuhaan Kagduha nga Semana han Katuigan" with a Holy Mass on September 5. The service took place on the second floor of the new Criminology Building and was attended by students, faculty, and staff.

Rev. Fr. Dan Gañas presided over the Mass, delivering a poignant message about finding true hope and contentment in God, rather than in material possessions. He emphasized the significance of maintaining faith as a means to strengthen the foundation of hope found in the Gospel.

The Mass not only served as a spiritual reminder of trust in God but also prepared the community for the upcoming celebration of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary on September 8.

‎Maydolong, Eastern Samar – Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) - Maydolong warmly welcomed its freshmen during the "KA - IV - GAN Freshmen's Welcome: Together Towards a Successful Tomorrow" event held on August 29, 2025, at the Student Development Center (SDC). The event aimed to equip freshmen with the purpose and skills needed to thrive holistically in college life, encompassing academic, physical, spiritual, emotional, and social well-being.

‎The program commenced with an engaging icebreaker led by Ma. Jelyn, Edmar, and Glaidel from the IV YACF, fostering enthusiastic participation among the freshmen. Mrs. Venus Seduco delivered the rationale of the event, emphasizing its significance in guiding students. Following this, Mrs Phobe L. Gesite, Head of Guidance Counselling & IV - YACF adviser, provided opening remarks, setting an encouraging tone for the day.

‎Furthermore, freshmen's experienced a praise and worship session led by the Living Waters & Free Gospel Praise Team, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Mr. Rey Gesite spoke on behalf of Dr. Zosima Ana A. Fabula introduced the guest speaker, Atty. Philip John Evardone Jr., who delivered an inspiring message on "Finding Your True Identity and Purpose."

‎Dyvid Jedidia D. Ebit, IV-YACF President, promoted the organization, highlighting its role in student development. Subsequently, the oath-taking ceremony for the IV - YACF Officers 2025 was conducted, with introductions by Mrs. Phoebe L. Gesite. Mr. Rey Rennie B. Gesite concluded this segment with prayers for the newly appointed officers. The event highlighted the importance of discovering one's true identity and purpose. A inspiring message was the encouragement to "Find your purpose and choose to pursue it," leaving a lasting impact on the freshmen as they embark on their college journey.

Maydolong, Eastern Samar – In a vibrant display of talent and cultural pride, Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) - Maydolong Campus successfully hosted its Awarding and Cultural Show as part of the ASEAN Month Celebration last August 22, 2025. Themed "Buwan ng ASEAN: Sama-sama sa Pag-unlad," the event took place at the Student Development Center (SDC), drawing attendance from students, faculty, and community members.

The program began with the Philippine National Anthem, an invocation, and the ESSU Hymn, which set a respectful tone for the gathering. Prof. Apolinario John A. Bocar, Director of QAEA, delivered the opening remarks, followed by an inspiring message from Dr. Zosima Anna Fabula, Dean of the College of Education. A highlight of the event was the introduction of the ASEAN Youth Ambassadors by Mrs. Ruby Ann B. Araba, during which each ambassador presented their advocacy and vision as a member of the ASEAN committee. Following this, Mrs. Araba facilitated their Oath of Commitment.

Following the ceremonial segments, the cultural show unveiled a series of captivating performances, showcasing traditional dances from various ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. Each dance served as a testament to the region's rich cultural diversity.

The culmination of the event was the awarding ceremony, which recognized outstanding contributions in several categories:

National Costume Walk of Competition
- 🥇 1st Place: BEEd (Malaysia)
- 🥈 2nd Place: BSHM (Vietnam)
- 🥉 3rd Place: BSBA (Myanmar)

Cultural Booth
- 🥇 1st Place: BTLed (Philippines)
- 🥈 2nd Place: BEEd (Malaysia)
- 🥉 3rd Place: BSBA (Myanmar)

ASEAN Quiz Bowl
- 🥇 1st Place: BSBA (Myanmar)
- 🥈 2nd Place: BCAEd (Cambodia)
- 🥉 3rd Place: BEEd (Malaysia)

Cultural Dance Performances

The event not only celebrated the creativity and skills of ESSUdyantes but also emphasized the importance of unity among ASEAN nations. The day was filled with performances, learning experiences, and heartfelt recognition, making it a colorful testament to the theme of unity in diversity.
