SINUSURI ng Department of Justice o DOJ ang extradition request ng United States government para kay Kingdom of Jesus Christ o KOJC founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, ayon kay Palace Press Officer Claire Castro nitong Biyernes.

Ayon kay Castro, natanggap na ng DOJ ang tinatayang voluminous records na kalakip ng extradition request. Ipinadala ang mga dokumento ng US Department of State sa pamamagitan ng Department of Foreign Affairs o DFA.

Sinabi ni Castro na kinakailangang maingat na pag-aralan, i-evaluate, at i-assess ng DOJ ang kahilingan ng United States bago ito resolbahin sa tamang panahon.

Layunin umano nito na matiyak ang pinakamataas na antas ng justice, kapwa para sa mga umano’y biktima sa Pilipinas at United States, gayundin para sa akusado.

Nag-ugat ang US extradition request sa 2021 indictment kay Quiboloy sa California, kung saan nahaharap siya sa mga kasong kinabibilangan ng s*x trafficking of minors, visa fraud, at bulk cash smuggling, bukod sa iba pa.

Nakasaad naman sa Article 11 ng 1994 Philippines-US Extradition Treaty na maaaring pansamantalang isuko ng isang bansang hinihingan ng extradition ang isang indibidwal na may kinakaharap na prosecution o nagsisilbi ng sentensya sa nasabing bansa.

Kung pagbibigyan ang extradition request, mananatili si Quiboloy sa US custody habang dinidinig ang kaso at maaari siyang ibalik sa Pilipinas matapos ang proceedings, alinsunod sa itinakda ng treaty.

Si Quiboloy ay ARESTADO noong Setyembre 2024 at kasalukuyang nakadetine sa Pasig City Jail habang nahaharap sa mga local charges, kabilang ang qualified human trafficking at child abuse.

Itinanggi naman ni Quiboloy ang lahat ng mga paratang laban sa kanya.

Officials on Saturday, August 8, urged the non-Moro indigenous groups in the Bangsamoro region to choose only the most qualified representatives, as nominees, for their 80-member parliament, during an inter-tribal selection process prior to the September 14 regional parliamentary polls.

Councils of at least six non-Muslim indigenous tribes in the Bangsamoro region are to converge for the activity, shortly before the September 14 regional elections, during which they are to choose two representatives from their communities to the regional lawmaking body.

The identities of their favored representatives to the parliament, chosen via nomination and not through a regular election process administered by the Commission on Elections, shall be made public during the election day, according to BARMM regional officials.

There are two seats in the 80-member parliament intended for representatives of the indigenous peoples, or IPs, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Three members of the Bangsamoro parliament, Ishak Mastura of Maguindanao del Norte, Naguib Sinarimbo of Cotabato City, who are both lawyers, and the physician ophthalmologist, Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., who is also functioning as regional health minister, had separately called on leaders of the IPs in BARMM to carefully choose whom they would want to represent them in the region’s law-making body.

The three lawmakers separately told reporters on Saturday that the BARMM parliament is the proper forum where the region’s IP communities can best present recommendations and propose plans on how the regional government can best serve their constituents in their ancestral domains.

The Comelec, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and the military’s Western Mindanao Command are now all set for the first ever September 14 parliamentary polls in BARMM’s five provinces, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, and in its three cities, Lamitan, Marawi and Cotabato.

Cotabato City is the regional capital of BARMM, where there are non-Moro ethnic Teduray residents.

Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr., a senior official of the Serbisyong Inklusibo, Alyansang Progresibo Party, was quoted in radio reports on Saturday as saying that the non-Muslim IPs ought to have a strong representation in the 80-seat Bangsamoro parliament, which is essential in the crafting of laws needed to foster peace and sustainable development in their ancestral domains.

“There would be no Muslim communities in the Bangsamoro region to talk about today if not for the non-Muslim indigenous communities in Mindanao that existed long before Islamic missionaries from what are now independent states in Asia and in the Middle East came in, many centuries ago, to spread Islam in what is now the Bangsamoro region,” Adiong said

Lanao del Sur, covering 39 towns and 101 barangays in its capital, Marawi City, has an indigenous non-Muslim Higaonon community.

Leaders of Lanao del Sur’s Higaonon tribe held a tribal assembly last June 27 in Wao, a highland town in the province, and, there, discussed who from among their tribe can be nominated to represent the IPs in the region to the regional parliament.

Leaders of the Higaonon tribe are to participate in the BARMM inter-tribal conclave before the September 14 elections for them and counterparts in other IP groups to choose potential representatives who can best represent them in the 80-member parliament.

Binigyan ng kaukulang papuri nitong Miyerkules, August 5, ng Government Service Insurance System-Cotabato Branch ang Ministry of Labor and Employment-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao dahil sa maayos na pamamalakad ng pagkaltas ng insurance premiums sa mga kawani ng MoLE-BARMM at sa pag-remit ng naturang collections sa GSIS.

Tumanggap ang mga officials ng MoLE-BARMM, sa pangunguna ni Labor and Employment Minister Muslimin Sema, ng special citation mula sa mga GSIS officials --- ang GSIS Top Performing Agency Award for 2025 --- sa simpleng seremonya sa MoLE-BARMM office sa Bangsamoro regional capitol sa Cotabato City nitong Miyerkules.

Mismong si GSIS-Cotabato Branch Manager Alexis Arumpac at ang kanyang mga subordinate-officials ang siyang nagbigay kay Labor and Employment Minister Sema ng naturang special citation, sa harap ng iba pang mga MoLE-BARMM officials, kabilang sina Deputy Minister Tommy Nawa at ang kanilang director-general na si Surab Abutazil.

Ayon kay Arumpac, maayos ang management nila Labor and Employment Minister Sema ng deductions sa sweldo ng kanilang mga empleyado at pag-remit sa GSIS ng naturang mga premiums, walang delay, naayon sa tamang proseso.

Si Labor and Employment Minister Muslimin Sema ang siyang chairman ng Moro National Liberation Front at presidente din Bangsamoro Party ng MNLF, mas kilala na “Bapa Party” na isa sa mga nangungunang political parties sa BARMM na may mga kandidato para sa parliament ng autonomous region sa darating na September 14, 2026 regional elections.

Ang MNLF ay nagka-peace agreement sa Malacañang noong September 2, 1996 na nabuo sa tulong ng Organization of Islamic Cooperation, isang malaki at influential na organization ng mahigit 50 na mga Islamic countries, kabilang ang mga petroleum-exporting nations sa Middle East at North Africa.

Sa kasalukuyan, may mga representatibo ang MNLF sa 80-member regional parliament na appointed ni President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Tumutulong din ang grupo nila Labor and Employment Minister Sema sa pamamalakad ng ilang mga agencies ng BARMM government at sa mga peacebuilding activities nito na naglalayong mapalakas, mapalawig ang religious at cultural solidarity ng mga Muslim, Christian at non-Moro indigenous communities sa limang probinsya at tatlong lungsod na sakop ng autonomous region. DAGDAG SEGURIDAD ang ipinatupad sa Lanao del Sur matapos mag-deploy ang Philippine Army ng karagdagang batalyon ng mga sundalo bilang paghahanda sa kauna-unahang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections na nakatakda sa Setyembre 14, 2026.

Idineploy sa lalawigan ang 28th Infantry Battalion o 28IB ng 10th Infantry Division, na inilagay sa ilalim ng operational control ng 101st Infantry Brigade o 101st IBde.

Pormal na sinalubong ni Brig. Gen. Yasser Bara, commander ng 101st IBde, ang mga opisyal at tauhan ng 28IB na pinamumunuan ni Lt. Col. Elben Naval sa isang reception ceremony nitong Biyernes sa multipurpose hall ng brigade headquarters sa Barangay Matalin, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.

Ayon kay Bara, malaking dagdag sa operational capability ng brigade ang pagdating ng 28IB habang pinaiigting ang security preparations para sa nalalapit na halalan.

Bilang augmentation force, tutulong ang 28IB sa nagpapatuloy na security operations upang makatulong na matiyak ang peaceful, orderly, honest at credible conduct ng makasaysayang unang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections sa kanilang area of responsibility.

Nagpahayag din ng kumpiyansa si Bara sa professionalism, discipline at commitment ng mga sundalo upang maisagawa nang maayos ang kanilang mandato.

Ang 28IB ay nagmula sa Barangay Poblacion, Magpet, North Cotabato bago ipinadala sa Lanao del Sur.

Samantala, nakatakda ring tumanggap ng karagdagang pwersa ang 101st IBde mula sa isang provisional battalion ng 1st Infantry Division, na partikular na binuo upang suportahan ang security operations para sa Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.

Ayon kay Bara, ipinakikita ng deployment ng karagdagang pwersa ang matibay na commitment ng Philippine Army na pangalagaan ang democratic process at tiyaking ligtas ang environment para sa lahat ng botante.

Nanindigan ang 101st IBde na magpapatuloy ang kanilang security efforts upang matiyak ang isang mapayapa, maayos, tapat at credible na unang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections sa buong kanilang area of responsibility.

Nagpasalamat nitong Sabado, August 8, ang mga municipal at barangay officials sa bayan ng Tampakan sa South Cotabato sa ayudang ipinagkaloob ng Sagittarius Mines Incorporated (SMI) para sa ikakabuti ng kalusugan ng mga bata sa kanilang komunidad.

Ayon sa mga community leaders sa Barangay Kipalbig, hinatid nito lang nakalipas na linggo ng mga kawani ng SMI sa Kipalbig barangay government office ang mga essential food supplies para sa kanilang feeding activities para sa mga bata sa mga lugar na sakop nila.

Ang pagpapaabot ng SMI ng naturang suporta sa feeding program ng mga barangay officials sa Kipalbig ay kaugnay ng Social Development and Management Program ng kumpanya na may malawak din na mga humanitarian, health, education and community-empowerment activities sa mga bayan ng Columbio sa Sultan Kudarat, sa Malungon sa Sarangani at sa Kiblawan sa Davao del Sur.

Sa kanyang pahayag nitong Sabado, ipinaliwanag ni Kipalbig Barangay Chairman Rolando Malabuyoc ang kanyang taos-pusong pasasalamat sa SMI sa pagtulong nito sa kanilang feeding programs para sa mga bata sa kanilang lugar, karamihan mula sa mga pamilyang etnikong Blaan na ang mga magulang ay kumikita lang ng sapat para sa kanilang araw-araw na pangangailangan.

Ayon kay Barangay Chairman Malabuyoc, malaking bagay ang tulong ng SMI sa pagpapabuti ng kalusugan ng mga bata sa mga sitio na sakop ng kanilang barangay government.

INAASAHANG BUMABA ng hanggang ₱5 kada litro ang presyo ng gasolina at diesel sa susunod na linggo, kasunod ng pagluwag ng tensyon sa Middle East at patuloy na pagpalakas ng halaga ng piso.

Ayon kay Jetti Petroleum President Leo Bellas, maaaring umabot sa ₱4.50 hanggang ₱5 kada litro ang inaasahang price rollback sa diesel at gasolina.

Iniuugnay ang posibleng pagbaba ng presyo sa pag-unti rin ng halaga ng crude oil sa Asian market, matapos bumaba ang geopolitical risk premium dahil sa pagluwag ng tensyon sa rehiyon.

Gayunman, sa kabila ng positibong outlook sa presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo, nananatili ang ilang fuel supply dahil nagpapatuloy pa rin ang kaguluhan at instability sa Middle East.

Patuloy namang mino-monitor ang galaw ng presyo ng krudo sa pandaigdigang merkado at ang epekto nito sa lokal na presyo ng fuel products.

Two farmers and two grade school children died from accidental electrocution in separate incidents in Kiamba and in Malapatan towns in Sarangani province within just six days.

Two pupils of the Cabading Elementary School in Kiamba, Alex Jay Palmes and Clyde Glenn Tercio, both 11 years-old, got electrocuted on Wednesday last week, July 29, while harvesting Santol fruits from a tree in Barangay Luma in the municipality that they were supposed to bring to their school for a Nutrition Month celebration program.

Palmes had unconsciously touched a power cable hanging close to the Santol fruits he was trying to pick then, causing his electrocution. Tercio, his classmate and close friend, tried to help pull him away but got electrocuted too.

Radio reports on Thursday stated that Palmes and Tercio, known in their campus and in Barangay Luma for their being close friends and treated each other like real siblings, were both declared dead on arrival by doctors at a hospital where emergency responders brought them for treatment.

Officials of the Police Regional Office 12 told reporters on Thursday that local executives, among them two mayors, George Falgui and James Reganit of the adjoining Kiamba and Maitum towns in Sarangani, respectively, had extended financial assistance to the families of the two children.

On Tuesday, two farmers, whose names were withheld by local officials while efforts to notify their relatives in other provinces are still underway, also both died instantly when they reportedly tried to move away an electrical cable dangling across a farm trail in Barangay Kihan in Malapatan.

Local officials said on Thursday that the two men were on their way then to their adjoining farm lots in an interior area in Barangay Kihan when they both got electrocuted, according to ranking personnel of the Sarangani Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and local government officials in Malapatan.

NASUNOG ang tinatayang 14 na bahay matapos sumiklab ang malaking sunog sa bahagi ng Old Market, Barangay Poblacion, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, pasado alas-7:00 ng gabi nitong Agosto 7.

Agad namang rumesponde ang mga bumbero upang makontrol at tuluyang maapula ang apoy. Gayunman, mabilis itong kumalat sa mga katabing kabahayan dahil karamihan sa mga bahay ay gawa light materials.

Batay sa paunang impormasyon, isang naiwang kandila ang sinasabing posibleng pinagmulan ng sunog. Gayunman, hindi pa ito kumpirmado dahil nagpapatuloy pa ang investigation ng Bureau of Fire Protection o BFP upang matukoy ang tunay na sanhi ng insidente.

Patuloy rin ang information gathering ng mga awtoridad hinggil sa kabuuang lawak ng pinsala, gayundin sa kalagayan ng mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng sunog.
