The 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu has requested the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to implement road safety and disaster readiness courses to improve public safety and emergency preparedness.
Filed by Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK) President and Board Member Loren S. Singco, the resolution recommending the implementation of road safety and disaster readiness courses was approved by the sanggunian during its regular session on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Among the engagements of Board Member Singco during his study mission in Nanning City, Province of Guangxi, China last June 23-26, 2026 included the visit to the Guangxi Emergency and Safety Education Center.
During the said visit, Board Member Singco described the Centerโs educational course on road safety and disaster readiness as having โdemonstrated the value of equipping personnel with practical knowledge and skills in road safety, emergency response, disaster preparedness, accident prevention, and crisis managementโ.
โIt is also best to recommend the PDRRMO to develop and implement a comprehensive Road Safety and Disaster Readiness Course to equip citizens, particularly government personnel engaged in disaster risk reduction, emergency response, public safety, traffic management, law enforcement, and peacekeeping, with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to effectively prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters,โ the Resolution states.
A copy of the approved Resolution will be furnished to the Office of the Governor and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
