The 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu has formally requested the cybercrime units of law enforcement authorities to investigate perpetrators who deliberately scare the public through posting false bomb or shooting threats online.

Sponsored by Sixth District Board Member Dason Larenz A. Lagon, the resolution seeking the assistance of law enforcement authorities was approved by the sanggunian during its regular session on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The Cebu Provincial Board noted that at least three (3) bomb threats were reported in less than a week, causing public panic.

In addition, alleged perpetrators of a recent shooting threat in a public high school in Barangay Tingo, Lapu-Lapu City were apprehended by the local police.

The approved Resolution also cited the Anti-Bomb Joke Law (Presidential Decree No. 1727), which prohibits the malicious dissemination of false information concerning bombs or explosives.

Copies of the approved legislative measure will be furnished to the regional offices of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Cybercrime Unit Division for their perusal and appropriate action.

The 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu has requested the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to implement road safety and disaster readiness courses to improve public safety and emergency preparedness.

Filed by Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK) President and Board Member Loren S. Singco, the resolution recommending the implementation of road safety and disaster readiness courses was approved by the sanggunian during its regular session on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Among the engagements of Board Member Singco during his study mission in Nanning City, Province of Guangxi, China last June 23-26, 2026 included the visit to the Guangxi Emergency and Safety Education Center.

During the said visit, Board Member Singco described the Centerโ€™s educational course on road safety and disaster readiness as having โ€œdemonstrated the value of equipping personnel with practical knowledge and skills in road safety, emergency response, disaster preparedness, accident prevention, and crisis managementโ€.

โ€œIt is also best to recommend the PDRRMO to develop and implement a comprehensive Road Safety and Disaster Readiness Course to equip citizens, particularly government personnel engaged in disaster risk reduction, emergency response, public safety, traffic management, law enforcement, and peacekeeping, with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to effectively prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters,โ€ the Resolution states.

A copy of the approved Resolution will be furnished to the Office of the Governor and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
