A community effort to relocate an old wooden house in Barangay Matalang, Midsalip, went viral after the structure tilted and collapsed moments after being lifted.

Four people including the barangay chairman, a councilman, a tanod, and a barangay employee were seriously injured, while others sustained minor bruises.

Councilwoman Genelyn Placido Monte Alto stated the homeowner sought help to move the house just meters away for land use, but the team was unaware parts of the house had become brittle.

A video of the incident and injured residents being assisted circulated widely online, sparking discussions about the need to assess structural safety before traditional bayanihan activities. Authorities are investigating the case.

Why this go viral?

Here's why

This image went viral mainly because it’s an optical illusion / perspective puzzle that confuses the brain. 🧠👀

Here’s why people share it so much:

1. The house shape looks impossible
At first glance, the roof and upper floor don’t seem to match normal architecture.

The roof slopes down in all directions, almost like a round umbrella.

But the top floor sits in the middle, making people wonder: How is there space inside?

This makes viewers think the house is structurally impossible.

2. The perspective tricks your brain
The camera angle and the overgrown surroundings hide some details. Because of that:

The roof edges look lower than they really are.

The upper structure looks too large for the roof below.

Your brain tries to interpret it as a normal house and gets confused.

3. It looks abandoned and mysterious
The overgrown plants, broken roof, and boarded windows make it look like a haunted or forgotten house. 🏚️
That mystery encourages people to comment and speculate.

4. Viral social media challenge
Many posts asked questions like:

“What’s wrong with this house?”

“Can you spot the architectural mistake?”

This makes people engage and share, which boosts virality.
