The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) officially kicked off CIT Week 2026 with an opening ceremony on March 9 at the Eulogio โAmangโ Rodriguez Tanghalang Sining (EARTS), University of Rizal System Morong Campus. The week-long celebration, running until March 13, highlights the talents, skills, and achievements of CIT students through various activities, competitions, and student-led booths.
The program began after the parade, where students, faculty members, and retirees gathered to witness the formal start of the week-long celebration.
DโGears President, Danieca S. Viray delivered the welcoming remarks, expressing gratitude to the students and retirees who attended the opening ceremony. She encouraged everyone to enjoy the activities and booths organized throughout the week and hoped that the event would strengthen the sense of community among CIT students.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Frederick R. Feliciano, Dean of the College of Industrial Technology, extended his warm greetings to all attendees. In his message, he expressed pride in the students who successfully passed national certifications and those currently undergoing supervised industrial training. He emphasized the importance of continuously developing studentsโ technical skills to help them become competent professionals in their chosen fields.
URS Morong Campus Director Dr. Niclie L. Tiratira delivered the special message during the ceremony. She expressed her gratitude to the retirees who dedicated years of service to URS in guiding and honing studentsโ skills. She also reminded students to practice responsibility by picking up trash whenever they see one, highlighting the importance of discipline and environmental awareness. In addition, she encouraged students to value camaraderie, take time to breathe, and find inspiration through learning and shared experiences.
The rationale of the program was presented by Kalvin Daniel B. Escalante, Vice President-Internal of DโGears, who explained the purpose of celebrating CIT Week and its role in strengthening unity and engagement among students. Adding entertainment to the event, Mr. Ian Morry performed the first intermission number through a singing performance.
The program also recognized academic excellence through the awarding of Deanโs Listers. The recognition was led by Dr. Charlton Pepaรฑo, Chair of the Honors and Awards Committee, together with area coordinators from different trade areas within CIT. A total of 88 students from first year to fourth year were awarded for their outstanding academic performance.
The opening ceremony marked the beginning of a week filled with activities, competitions, and exhibits that aim to celebrate the talents, skills, and achievements of CIT students.
