Malaysia International Travel Restrictions for COVID-19
Like many other nations, Malaysia has introduced coronavirus entry restrictions as part of its measures to fight the spread of COVID-19.
The majority of foreign visitors are currently prohibited from entering Malaysia , including tourist visa holders, with the exception of those holding certain categories of residence visas and employment passes.
However, travelers are currently permitted to enter Malaysia if they are in one of the following categories:
▪️Malaysian nationals
▪️Diplomatic passport holders
▪️Passengers with MyTravel Pass (MTP)
- permanent residents of Malaysia with MyTravelPass (MTP) obtained at https://mtp.imi.gov.my/myTravelPass/main ;
▪️Students with written approval from immigration
– students with a written approval from immigration applied at https://educationmalaysia.gov.my/ ;
*Passengers must install ’MySejahtera app’ in their phone and complete the health declaration at least one day before departure.
*Passengers must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point.
*Passengers are subject to a COVID-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival at their own expense.
*Passengers are subject to medical screening and quarantine for 14 or 21 days at the first point of entry at their own expense.
Additionally, passengers are not currently permitted to transit from an international flight to a domestic flight within Malaysia, with the exception of Malaysian nationals traveling to Sabah or Sarawak.
Passengers arriving from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka are not allowed to enter and transit with the exception of Malaysian citizens.
On 8 August 2021, the Prime Minister announced that fully vaccinated Malaysians and foreigners who have a residence in Malaysia, including permanent residents, and MM2H visa holders returning from overseas may serve their quarantine at home.

▪️Residential address in Malaysia (Home quarantine location)
▪️PCR test results
▪️Permission for home quarantine is at the decision and discretion of the Malaysian Ministry of Health.
