LOOK: On Saturday, a belen maker was seen working at a handicraft shop in Quiapo, Manila.

According to him, the shop began receiving bulk orders in early August in anticipation for the Christmas season, which in the Philippines typically begins in September.

WHERE TO, NEXT?

Bibiyahe si Bise Presidente Sara Duterte patungong Japan sa Setyembre para makipagpulong sa Filipino community roon. Ayon sa kanya, itinakda na ng mga Pilipino sa Japan ang pagtitipon bilang pagpapakita ng suporta sa kanyang nakadetine na ama, dating Pangulong Rody Duterte.

Ito na ang ikatlong beses ngayong taon na bumisita siya sa Japan, at ika-13 na biyahe sa ibang bansa para sa 2025. Kasunod nito, nakatakda rin siyang bumalik sa The Hague sa Setyembre 23 para sa kumpirmasyon ng kaso laban sa kanyang ama sa International Criminal Court - ICC.

Ipinagbawal pansamantala ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang personal na pagbiyahe sa ibang bansa ng kanilang mga opisyal at empleyado. Kaugnay ito ng nagpapatuloy na beripikasyon sa mga proyekto ng ahensya na umano’y konektado sa multibilyong pisong flood control scandal.

Ayon kay DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, epektibo agad ang suspensyon hanggang katapusan ng Nobyembre 2025, maliban na lamang kung may agarang medikal na dahilan. Binigyang-diin niya na ang hakbang na ito ay alinsunod sa layunin ng ahensya na mapanatili ang transparency, accountability, at integridad sa serbisyo publiko.

President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. and officials under the executive branch have expressed their willingness to undergo lifestyle checks amid the probe into flood control projects, Malacañang announced Friday. Palace press officer Claire Castro said even the President is prepared to disclose his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) if necessary.

The move comes after lawmakers, including Senator Risa Hontiveros, urged Marcos to include himself in the lifestyle check to demonstrate transparency and accountability. Castro, however, cautioned against politicizing the issue, emphasizing that the focus should remain on officials linked to questionable flood-prevention projects.
