[FEATURES] The case of the missing sabungeros rekindled in early June 2025 when Julie “Totoy” Patidongan came forward with a testimony saying that the victims were “killed softly”—by strangulation using tie wire—and said the victims were weighed down with sandbags. To be “killed softly’ is a cold irony, to be imposed debt is far from being imposed death. The methodical process obscures reason from the situation, for they aren’t born of rage, but of cold calculation.

JUSTICE SHALL AND MUST ALWAYS PREVAIL ⚖️

Today, we commemorate the World International Justice Day, a reminder to promote justice and human rights.

We have seen how justice can be delayed, denied, or distorted. We have seen multiple lives ruined because of a system that failed to protect them because of who they are or where they come from.

Let us speak up, demand accountability, and seek justice not just today, but until it becomes a norm, not just a privilege. Because when justice is denied, freedom is compromised.

Today, we celebrate the importance of equipping youth with essential skills that shape the leaders of tomorrow.

With the ever-changing world, may we invest more in the development of inclusive and accessible education and opportunities because indeed, the youth is the hope of our future.

[OPINION] "PITIK nang pitik, hindi naman ina-upload"— a remark thrown at THE BEDAN HERALD during one of our photo coverages on campus. It wasn’t the first time someone said that to the publication, and it probably won’t be the last. But here’s the truth: Photojournalism is not just “photography.” That’s the misconception.

On this day, nine years ago, The Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled that the Philippines has exclusive sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea, and declared that China’s “nine-dash line” claim has no legal validity. This decision affirms the country's maritime rights under UNCLOS.
