๐๐„๐–๐’ | CTE Student Jomari Momo Earns Gold in 2025 CBRC National Quiz Bee

During the flag-raising ceremony on May 19, 2025, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) recognized Jomari Momo, a fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Social Studies student, for his outstanding performance in the 2025 Carl Balita Review Center (CBRC) National Teacher Education Quiz Bee.

Held on May 16, 2025, the competition gathered 111 participants from state, local, and private institutions across the Philippines. Momo stood out among the competitors and earned a gold medal for his remarkable performance.

The competition consisted of multiple rounds assessing participantsโ€™ 21st-century teaching competencies. Contestants were tasked with generating AI-based lesson plans, designing a poster based on Kendall and Marzanoโ€™s New Taxonomy, and creating an AI-proof performance task. These were followed by the quiz bee proper, which featured three rounds: easy, average, and difficult.

While Momo competed, a Helpline Team composed of selected BEED and BSEd students from second to fourth year actively supported him from school. They answered two sets of flash quizzes prepared for them and impressively achieved perfect scores in both. The team's presence and effort reflected the shared dedication of future educators working together with one goal.

Momo was guided by his coach, Prof. Glorynor Navarro, whose support remained unwavering throughout the competition. She empowered both Momo and the Helpline Team not only through her knowledge, but also through her consistent encouragement and belief in their abilities.

Prof. Navarroโ€™s dedication fostered not only academic excellence but also meaningful collaboration among students from different year levels and programs. She is also known for her expertise and excellence in teaching Professional Education courses.

This achievement is shared by the students, faculty, and the entire Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa community. It marks another remarkable academic milestoneโ€”one that celebrates excellence, teamwork, and progress.

๐๐„๐–๐’ | CTE Students Participate in CBRC Institutional Quiz Bee

A total of 20 students, with 10 from the third-year and 10 from the fourth-year levels under the College of Teacher Education (CTE), competed in the CBRC (Carl Balita Review Center) Institutional Level Quiz Bee held at the RLRC Heroes' Hall on April 11. The event served as the institutional elimination round for the upcoming National Teacher Education Quiz Bee.

Among the participants, Jomar Caรฑete (Special Needs Education), Jomari Momo (Social Studies), and Hurry Jay Neponcio (Mathematics), all fourth-year students, secured the top three spots, placing first, second, and third, respectively.

The quiz bee challenged participants through three stages: easy, average, and difficult rounds, covering both general and professional education topics.

As recognition for their outstanding performance, the top three winners received scholarship discounts from CBRC Muntinlupa for their future review programs.

The students were guided and mentored by Prof. Glorynor V. Navarro, in coordination with Mr. Robert Del Monte, Executive Director of the Emerald Review Center, who led the partnership with CBRC for the conduct of the quiz bee.

As institutional winners, Caรฑete and Momo will represent PLMun in the upcoming CBRC National Teacher Education Quiz Bee Competition. This marks the second consecutive year that the College of Teacher Education will send representatives to the national level, continuing the college's strong involvement in CBRC-led academic initiatives.

๐๐„๐–๐’ | โ€œTara, Basa!โ€ Tutoring Program Year 3 Holds Its General Assembly

The โ€œTara, Basa!โ€ Tutoring Program (TBTP) in partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun), now in its third year, held its general assembly on March 29, 2025, at Heroesโ€™ Hall in the Research and Learning Resource Center (RLRC) Building.

Hosted by Mary Jane Belando and Fredie Scott Raton, the event officially commenced with opening remarks from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) Dean and TBTP PLMun Focal Person, Asst. Prof. Sannie Jusay. She commended the programโ€™s three-year legacy and highlighted that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had recognized Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) for its notable contributions to TBTP at the Social Technology (ST) Expo 2024, where it received the Transformative Innovation Award and the Trailblazer Partnership Award.

Moreover, PLMun also took part in the recent Regional Training of Trainers (RTOT) conducted by DSWD at Sucat Senior High School on March 17 to 21, 2025. Dean of CTE, Asst. Prof. Sannie Jusay, together with Prof. Glorynor Navarro and Prof. Elaine Guerrero, participated in the training, which helped ensure capacitated partners as subject-matter experts (SMEs) for the upcoming series of capability building.

Following this, Christian Cedro, the overall head of learning facilitators, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Glorynor Navarro for introducing the concept of inclusion and for providing guidance on fostering connections, effectively managing interactions, and recognizing the strengths of the children.

Cedro also led the orientation on learning facilitation. They talked about important topics like capability building, the rules and guidelines for learning facilitators, and the kamustahan process. Additionally, they interviewed students about their expectations for the tutoring program.

Soon, Jayson Compa, the implementer of youth development, facilitated the orientation among its members. Their talk highlighted the roles and responsibilities of a youth development worker, which include attending capacity building on facilitating the enhanced Nanay-Tatay Teacher Modules and conducting a 20-day tutoring session with parents and guardians using the prescribed module. In addition, they explained the amount of cash for work and cash for training during the 20-day session of the program.

Furthermore, students were grouped according to their assigned schools, where their leaders were also briefed on their roles, responsibilities, and key tasks to be accomplished throughout the tutoring program. Additionally, coordination and communication were facilitated among tutors for each school.

The program officially concluded with the submission of requirements and final reminders from May Antonette Marbella, overall head of TBTP PLMun Year 3. She reiterated the importance of adherence to guidelines, effective collaboration, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment as the tutoring sessions commence.
