The Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) Supreme Student Council (SSC) held its Turnover and Tribute Ceremony on June 16, 2025, at the MSUN Function House. The event honored the outgoing student leaders while officially welcoming a new generation of officers poised to continue the councilโs legacy of service and advocacy.
The evening began with a warm welcome from Ms. Arleen B. Uy, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services, followed by an inspirational address from Chancellor, Dr. Elnor C. Roa, who emphasized the value of leadership transitions and the responsibility they entail. She urged incoming leaders to embrace their responsibilities with humility and active courage, highlighting the inspirational impact of their actions and emphasizing that true leadership makes a difference.
The Chancellor concluded with the poignant reminder, โ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ต๐๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐.โ
The symbolic turnover of leadership soon followed. Outgoing SSC President, Hon. Andi Glenn C. Sabellano gave a reflective and heartfelt speech, drawing on the acronym โSSCโ to describe his administrationโs journey: the first "S" represents "๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ธ๐๐ฒ๐" (Success), emphasizing the council's commitment to student success and development. The second "S" stands for "๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐๐ผ" (Sacrifice), highlighting the dedication required for success, and the "C" represents "๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป," the soul of service.
"๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ธ๐๐ผ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฑ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฎ ๐ธ๐ฎ ๐ฏ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ผ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ผ ๐ธ๐ฎ ๐ป๐ถ ๐๐ด ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป." Sabellano concluded.
The newly elected officers then took their oath of office, led by MSU Student Regent Hon. Edriane Shane M. Casipong. The newly elected SSC President, Hon. Frances B. Maliao then delivered an acceptance speech, acknowledging the significant responsibility of his new role. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the student body, expressed gratitude to his supporters, and pledged to uplift students' voices and welfare. His vision included bridging the gap between students and the administration, fostering a community built on integrity and humility.
"๐๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ." Maliao affirmed.
The evening continued with the tribute segment, themed โ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ: ๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฏ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น ๐๐ผ ๐ง๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ช๐ต๐ผ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ.โ It featured a grand entrance of guests and honorees, as well as welcoming remarks from the newly elected Vice President, Hon. Sandarha Langam, who invited everyone to enjoy the night in a spirit of unity.
Student Regent Casipong returned to the stage to deliver a powerful message on leadership.
"๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ด ๐๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฝ๐ผ ๐ถ๐๐ผ ๐ฝ๐ผ ๐๐๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐น๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฒ, ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐, ๐ฎ๐ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฑ,โ Casipong remarked, describing student leadership as "the purest job," characterized by selfless service, honesty, and integrity.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to outgoing officers, followed by emotional messages from SSC Adviser Ma'am Malou Galla and OSD Director Ma'am Sylvia Labial. Maโam Galla, new to the university, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the outgoing councilโs dedication, especially praising outgoing President Sabellano for leading with integrity. Maโam Labial echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the councilโs key contributions, including the successful ex*****on of โPalakasan,โ the universityโs major sports and culture fest.
The event also featured testimonials from officers, who reflected on how their leadership journeys had shaped their growth.
The night concluded with a candle lighting ceremony, a tribute video, and a festive gathering that celebrated both endings and new beginnings.
In his final message, Sabellano thanked his team for their unwavering commitment, and left the new administration with a wish for courage, collaboration, and continued service.
The event was more than a ceremonyโit was a testament to the power of student leadership, community spirit, and the legacy of service passed from one administration to the next.
