In IT, it’s never just about selling devices—it’s about building systems that solve real problems.

Some time ago, I designed and deployed a network system tailored to meet a client's specific needs.
Recently, another technical group came in offering an “upgraded” version. Unfortunately, they focused only on the hardware—without fully understanding how the system was supposed to work as a whole.
The result? The upgrade didn’t meet the client's expectations.

I was called back to fix it—to bring the system back on track and aligned with how it was originally meant to function.

IT work isn’t just plug-and-play. It requires proper planning, system understanding, and aligning tech with actual operational goals.

Lesson learned: Upgrades without insight can end up as setbacks. Always design with the solution in mind—not just the sale.

Tech Tip: If you plan on doing maintenance on your PC/Laptop the DIY way, be extra careful handling the CPU and CPU slot. 2nd time in a row I've encountered a broken pin in the CPU slot. The pins are so small and fragile with tight spaces in between that tinkering it might break adjacent pins. Issue like this most likely will require board replacement. Also, don't forget putting thermal paste on the cpu before re-placing the cpu heatsink, failure to do so will compromise the cpu itself of overheating. This is a costly mistake, so if you are not familiar with PC and Laptop maintenance better yet consult a technician.

Desktop Troubleshooting tip:

Issue: Desktop powers on but with no display despite cpu fan and psu fan running.
Elimated all possible causes of trouble like RAM, CPU, GPU and PSU input voltages. Also, sprayed motherboard with a board cleaner to isolate possibility of a motherboard component shorting, still with no display. Decided to further check, and got the culprit of the problem, it was a broken pin inside the cpu slot. This pin is miniscule and fragile and really difficult to tinker w/o affecting nearby pins. Also, the unit was already brought to other pc tech and the issue was not pinpointed, and owner was told to buy a new unit.

Solution: Bought a 2nd hand motherboard replacement online at a fraction of a cost of a brand new one, plus owner got to re-use other components which were still okay.

Result: Desktop is up and running at a cost significantly lower if the owner bought a brand new pc, which he is already pondering before he asked me to check his pc.

Moral Lesson: To a tech guy, not all dead set desktop is already garbage. Have your desktop checked before deciding to dispose it, for all you know you can save a lot, instead of buying a new unit outright.
