In violin playing, double stops are when a player plays two strings at the same time, producing two notes together. ๐ŸŽป

This technique creates a richer, fuller sound and is often used to play harmonies or chords in a piece.

Beginners usually start with simple open-string double stops before moving on to ones that use fingered notes.

Thea is currently working on this advanced technique as she plays Concerto No. 5, 3rd Movement by Seitz - one of the repertoires of Suzuki Violin School Volume 4.

Teacher Christian is guiding Carly as she learns โ€œLong, Long Agoโ€ from Suzuki Violin School Volume 1. ๐ŸŽป

Heโ€™s making sure she plays not only with the right notes but also with the correct posture.

Because good technique builds strong musicians. ๐ŸŽต

A dotted quarter note is a quarter note with a dot beside it.
The dot adds half of its value, so instead of 1 beat, it gets 1 and a half beats.

Teacher Tim explains this to Ronan as they tackle "May Song" from Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 in which the first note of the piece is a dotted quarter note.

A major scale is made up of a specific sequence of notes that follow a distinct pattern of whole steps (W) and half steps (H).

It consists of seven notes (plus the octave, which repeats the first note).
Theyโ€™re built on the following pattern of intervals:
W โ€“ W โ€“ H โ€“ W โ€“ W โ€“ W โ€“ H

Here we see Teacher Roger teach Lemuel the parts of the said scale and how to find it across different major keys.

Teacher Jonathan guided his student through one of the most fundamental topics in music theory โ€” the music staff.

Together, they explored what goes on the staff, how notes are placed, and why understanding it is essential for reading and writing music.

Learning the staff opens the door to musical literacy โ€” helping students recognize pitch, rhythm, and harmony with confidence. At Music Hub, we believe that a strong foundation in music theory leads to greater creativity and expression.

Erik Satie's Gymnopรฉdie No. 1 is a famous 1888 minimalist piano composition known for its slow, simple, and melancholic melody and sparse harmonies. Its gentle, repetitive phrases create an atmosphere of floating, thoughtfulness, and tranquility, which has inspired ambient music.

Lemuel was able to master this piece during his time with Teacher Roger before returning to Dubai ๐ŸŽน

We often give our students the chance to learn pieces of their own choice alongside their regular assignments. We call these intermission pieces, as they let students appreciate their progress through music that personally inspires them.

For instance, Kayden is currently practicing Kahit Kailan by Southborder after completing a classical piece with Teacher Jonathan ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽน
