Reflection
We have now finished celebrating Advent and Christmas, and we transition into the liturgical season of “Ordinary Time.” This period invites us to live our lives in both common and remarkable ways.
We start this season with a special call from God. In the Gospel reading, Jesus begins His public work by announcing, “The Kingdom of God is near.” He also emphasizes that because the Kingdom is present, we need to “repent” and “believe.”
It's crucial to recognize that the Incarnation, which we especially observed during Advent and Christmas, forever transformed the world. By becoming human in Jesus Christ, God brought a new Kingdom of grace and mercy. This divine action has changed our world and our lives. As Jesus launched His ministry, He reveals this new reality through His teachings.
Jesus’ public ministry, as shared through the inspired Gospels, shows us God’s very nature and the foundation of His new Kingdom of grace and mercy. It calls us to live holy lives and to commit ourselves deeply to following Christ. As we begin Ordinary Time, it's important to remember our responsibility to delve into the Gospel message and respond wholeheartedly.
However, this special call to follow Christ should become a regular part of our lives. Our commitment to Christ must transform into our everyday way of being. We need to view the “extraordinary” as our “ordinary” duty.
Today, think about the start of this new liturgical season. Let it be a chance to emphasize the importance of daily studying and meditating on Jesus’ public ministry and His teachings. Renew your dedication to regularly reading the Gospel so it becomes a natural part of your daily routine
