FBI Warns Of Malware Risks In Free Online File Converters: Key Information You Need

The FBI Denver Field Office has issued a warning about a growing number of deceptive websites offering free online file conversion services. These sites claim to convert files, such as .doc to .pdf, but instead, they install malware on users' computers. This malware can lead to ransomware attacks, browser hijackers, adware, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs).

Cybercriminals use these file converters to lure victims by offering popular file conversion services. While the converters may appear to work, they secretly embed malware in the downloaded files. This malware can steal personal information, financial data, passwords, and email addresses.
