There will probably come a time in the future when I look back at the decision to literally go for broke just to have a chance to yell about a video game and wonder what the hell I was thinking.
I still don’t know how this story ends, but I do know I’m on the right path when that decision has allowed me to meet some truly amazing people, become a better person, and somehow send me to places all across the globe.
This time, it was Paris.
And for the third year, I had the absolute privilege of being part of the Esports World Cup for Honor of Kings.
Of all the events we’ve done, I think this one might have been our toughest as a team. Ten straight days of a rollercoaster of emotions and all of us trying to tell the story of this event the best way we possibly could. It was exhausting, stressful, hilarious, rewarding—and somehow, I’d do it all over again.
First, thank you to the talents for another amazing event. Your heart and passion for the game comes through so clearly on stream, and your knowledge of Honor of Kings continues to teach me something new every time we work together. More than that, your willingness to be transparent, listen, and take feedback has made a world of difference.
Case in point: the Sagi Confessions segment. Absolutely incredible. 😂
To EFG and everyone working behind the scenes: thank you.
Year after year, event after event, you somehow make our lives on camera so much easier by doing all the hard work behind it. Thank you for always taking care of us, for all the late nights, problem-solving, coordination, and everything else that most people will never see.
You are all incredible people—and criminally underpaid.
Seriously, who do I talk to about getting you all a raise?
And finally, thank you to EFG and Tencent for giving me the opportunity to be part of another Esports World Cup. Being able to come back year after year is something I don’t take for granted, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust and opportunity.
From screaming about a video game to doing it in Paris… I really can’t complain about where this path has taken me.
