The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) celebrates a historic milestone with the birth of Riley (Chick #31), the first documented Philippine eagle to hatch unassisted in captivity. Born on January 16, 2025, to Sinag and Dakila, Riley’s successful hatching marks a breakthrough for the critically endangered species, with fewer than 400 left in the wild.

“Riley’s arrival is a symbol of hope and a reminder of the importance of unity in protecting our natural heritage,” PEF stated. They encourage the public to support conservation efforts, including habitat preservation and rehabilitation programs, to ensure the survival of the national bird.

141st BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF VENERABLE ROSARIO DE LA VISITACION

FOUNDRESS OF THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY OF THE PHILIPPINES (OP MOLO) 😇

Venerable Rosario Arroyo de la Visitacion was born on February 17, 1884 in Molo, Iloilo. Her zeal for religious life prompted her to enter the Beaterio de Sta. Catalina in Intramuros, Manila. She made her profession on January 3, 1914 and dedicated herself in teaching young girls at the Beaterio-Colegio de Santa Catalina and in Colegio del Santissimo Rosario in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

She was eventually known for her sincere piety and devotion distinguished by her rigorous prayer life and voluntary poverty. Together with two sisters from Sta. Catalina, Ven. Rosario pioneered the foundation of Beaterio del Sto. Rosario in her hometown. In 1953, she was elected as first Superior General of what would become today as the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines (Molo Sisters).

After a well spent life of guiding her sisters in humility and virtue, Ven. Rosario died in 1957. She is remembered by her devotees for her works of mercy for the poor and untiring support for the promotion of Dominican vocation.

She was declared Venerable by Pope Francis in June 12, 2019.

THE LEGACY OF MOTHER ROSARIO

Madre Sayong's life can perhaps be best pictured in paradoxes. She may born in one of the most affluent families in the country but chose a life of poverty in imitation of the life of Our Lord and Our Lady; She was gentle by nature but was very strong in the faith; She was almost always in position of authority yet she was ever ready to be of service to others. She personified optimism and unfaltering trust in God’s loving providence. Through her unconditional self-giving, she enriched the lives of others as she wrote in her diary "We should love our neighbors as ourselves without interest."

The legacy of Mother Rosario may be summarized through the following points:

•Her deep love for God;
•strong love for neighbor;
•her exemplary love for the Blessed Virgin Mary through her burning devotion in praying the Rosary which she first learned at the lap of her mother;
•and leadership by example.

The Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary who, to this day, lives on her legacy and continues their Foundress' mission.
