GOSPEL IS OFFENSIVE
The Gospel can be confronting.
Whenever we faithfully proclaim the truth of God’s Word, we must understand that not everyone will receive it comfortably. The message of Christ does more than inspire — it searches the heart.
Truth comforts the broken.
Truth corrects the wandering.
And sometimes, truth wounds before it heals.
One beautiful Sunday morning, I preached on a sensitive issue — addressing homosexuality in light of Scripture and what the Bible teaches about holiness, repentance, and God’s design.
I referenced S***m and Gomorrah as a biblical example.
My intention was never to condemn. It was to remain faithful to God’s Word and to call every one of us — myself included — to walk in obedience to Him.
That week, I learned that a father who heard the message confronted his children who were practicing homosexuality and urged them to change their ways.
The following week, that family stopped attending church.
As a pastor, moments like this are heavy. My heart is never to push people away, but to lead them closer to Christ. Yet Scripture reminds us that the Gospel both invites and confronts.
Jesus was full of grace and truth.
He loved deeply — yet He never compromised truth.
He welcomed sinners — yet He always called them to transformation.
My calling is not to please everybody, but to speak the truth in love — not harshly, not arrogantly, but humbly and prayerfully.
And trust that the Holy Spirit is the One who convicts, restores, and transforms.
Still, no matter how gently truth is spoken, it will offend those who resist it. Light exposes darkness.
And exposure can feel uncomfortable before it becomes freeing.
We continue to pray for every family. We believe God’s grace is greater than every struggle. His mercy is sufficient. His arms remain open to all who come to Him in repentance and faith.
The Gospel may offend —
but it is also the power of God unto salvation.
And that is why we must continue to preach it,
even someone might be offended. - Shalom
