Blood Moon Eclipse to Illuminate Philippine Skies on September 7โ8
Filipinos will witness a rare astronomical event on the night of September 7โ8, 2025, as a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon, becomes fully visible across the country. The phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes completely into Earthโs shadow, causing it to glow in shades of red and copper. This particular eclipse will feature a totality lasting about 82 minutes, making it one of the longest in recent years.
The Philippines is among the best locations to view the entire event from start to finish, along with other regions in Asia, Australia, eastern Africa, and parts of Europe. Astronomers emphasize that the eclipse can be safely viewed without any special equipment, though dark and open spaces away from city lights will provide the clearest view. The event is expected to draw widespread attention, both for its scientific value and its cultural significance.
