As fuel prices continue to rise, electric vehicle manufacturers—particularly in China—are poised to boost production to meet increasing demand for affordable alternatives. 🚢🛢️

While the U.S. and its allies are working to resolve geopolitical instability in the Middle East to secure oil tanker passage through key straits, we only expect a slight rollback in prices.

​The market remains high. While nations like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Iran dominate oil reserves, major players like the U.S., China, and Russia continue to lead across multiple fossil fuel types. These powerhouses will likely step in to supply neighboring countries that remain heavily dependent on Middle Eastern exports.

My Perspective on the Projected Fuel Price Increases Over the Next Three to Five Months⛽

​The current geopolitical instability in the Middle East has significantly impacted global fuel costs. While the temporary two-week ceasefire has led to a slight rollback in local prices, it is my firm belief that fuel costs will not return to their original, lower levels even if the conflict ends soon.

​In the Philippines, we have already demonstrated resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic by adapting to work-from-home and remote learning setups. I anticipate a similar shift in response to rising fuel costs, specifically through the emergence of Electric Vehicles (EVs). Many of these vehicles are currently manufactured in China, Japan, and South Korea.

​Within the next year, I expect that both electric cars and motorcycles will become more affordable as manufacturing scales up. Furthermore, as charging stations are established across the country, the reliance on fossil fuels will diminish. Consequently, the market value of internal combustion engine vehicles may drop significantly as consumer demand shifts toward more sustainable alternatives.
