Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade Hits SRC-5 Rebels in Lanao del Sur; Nearing Total Defeat of Terrorist Group
CAMP SANG-AN, ZDS – Government forces under the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade, Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN, clashed with remnants of the Sub-Regional Committee 5 (SRC-5) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) in Amai Manabilang, Lanao del Sur on August 23, 2025.
Troops from the Haribon brigade engaged members of Platun Uno, SRC-5 in Barangay Bandara Ingod. The firefight resulted in the death of one communist terrorist and the recovery of one M16 rifle. No government casualties were reported.
Pursuit and scouring operations are ongoing while adjacent units have been alerted for possible enemy withdrawal routes.
This encounter followed another armed clash on August 22 in Barangay Pagonayan, Amai Manabilang, also involving members of SRC-5. Later that evening, one regular member of the group voluntarily surrendered to security forces in Bukidnon after abandoning her unit due to hardships brought by sustained military pressure and successive encounters.
These recent incidents are part of the ninth government-initiated armed engagement with SRC-5 this year, which has already led to the surrender of seven members and further weakened the group’s operational capacity.
Brigade Nearing Mission Accomplishment
Brig. Gen. Billy O. Dela Rosa, Commander of the 103rd Infantry “Haribon” Brigade, said that sustained military pressure and cooperation with communities have placed SRC-5 on the brink of collapse.
“With our continued operations and the support of the people, we are close to accomplishing our mission of totally defeating SRC-5,” Brig. Gen. Dela Rosa stated.
Maj. Gen. Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr., Commander of Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN, praised the commitment of troops and stakeholders in maintaining pressure against the communist terrorists, emphasizing that the nearing defeat of SRC-5 will open the way for greater peace and development in Lanao del Sur and nearby areas.
The 1st Infantry “TABAK” Division assured that it will continue to pursue the remnants of communist groups while supporting peacebuilding and community development efforts in partnership with local governments and other agencies.
