The 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion Holds Change of Command Ceremony”

Kuta Dao, Pagadian City—The 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion marked a momentous milestone with the Change of Command Ceremony, signifying the formal turnover of leadership from LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Outgoing Commanding Officer to LTC ANABELLE R PARAAN CE (GSC) PA, Incoming Commanding Officer. The ceremony was held at Bantay Laya Hall, Headquarters, 547th Engineer Battalion, Kuta Dao, Pagadian City.

During his tour of duty from 01 July 2023 to 31 October 2025, LTC CARAG II led the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion with exemplary dedication and leadership. Under his command, the unit earned recognition as the “Best Battalion for Calendar Year 2024 and 2025,” a testament to the collective hard work and professionalism of its Officers and enlisted personnel.

In his valedictory remarks, LTC CARAG II shared his journey of leadership marked by excellence, unity, and resilience. He expressed profound gratitude to the higher headquarters, partner agencies, and stakeholders for their steadfast support that fueled the unit’s success. He likewise commended the unwavering dedication of the Agila Troopers, emphasizing that true excellence is achieved not only through hard work but also through unity, discipline, and faith in God—the enduring principles that continue to guide the battalion.

The ceremony was graced by BGEN DARWIN F HERNANDEZ PA, Commander, 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade, Philippine Army, whose presence underscored the significance of the occasion. In his inspirational message, BGEN HERNANDEZ highlighted the true essence of “AGILA,” an acronym that stands for Accountable, Growth, Integrity, Leadership and Achievements, the guiding principles that define every Agila Trooper.

He explained that Accountable reflects the soldier’s duty to perform with honesty and commitment; Growth symbolizes the pursuit of personal and professional development; Integrity represents the moral compass that anchors every soldier’s actions; Leadership embodies the spirit of inspiration and service; and Achievements reflect the collective success born of teamwork, perseverance and dedication.

BGEN HERNANDEZ further reminded the troops that being an Agila is not merely a designation but a lifelong commitment to service, honor and excellence.

Kuta Dao, Pagadian City—The 547th Engineer “Agila” Battalion held a Thanksgiving Mass on October 30, 2025, at Bantay Laya Hall, Headquarters, 547th Engineer Battalion, Kuta Dao, Pagadian City, led by LTC BENJAMIN B. CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the unit. The celebration was conducted in connection with the Change of Command Ceremony, marking the culmination of his successful leadership journey.

The activity served as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the guidance, protection, and countless blessings bestowed upon the unit throughout the past two years under LTC CARAG’s command. Turnover Ceremony of the Motor Pool Maintenance 7-Bay Facility

Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur — October 26, 2025, the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion formally turned over the newly constructed Motor Pool Maintenance 7-Bay Facility to the 9th Forward Service Support Unit, Support Command, Philippine Army, during a turnover ceremony held at Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The ceremony was led by LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion, under the 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade, Philippine Army. The project was implemented under the supervision of 1LT SHALIMAR ELVIN M SAWATE (CE) PA, Commanding Officer of Alpha Company, demonstrating the Philippine Army’s continued commitment to enhancing its infrastructure in support of maintenance and logistical operations.

Also in attendance were LTC SHERYLL MAE O SARMIENTO OS (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 9FSSU, Support Command, Philippine Army; LTC ANABELLE R PARAAN GSC (CE) PA, Incoming Commanding Officer, 547th Engineer Battalion; Rev. Fr. Harvey Kent S. Solatorio, Order of Saint Agustin; and other Officers and personnel of the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion.

The program began with the blessing of the facility officiated by Rev. Fr. Solatorio, followed by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the signing of the turnover documents, symbolizing the formal transfer of the facility to the end-user.

During the program, LTC CARAG II delivered the message of BGEN DARWIN F HERNANDEZ PA, Commander, 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade, Philippine Army, who commended the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion for their professionalism and dedication in completing the project. He emphasized that the newly constructed facility will significantly enhance the 9FSSU’s capability to sustain mission readiness and provide efficient maintenance and logistical support to Army operations.

The successful turnover of the Motor Pool Maintenance 7-Bay Facility marks another milestone in the Philippine Army’s continuous efforts to strengthen its operational capabilities through infrastructure development and inter-unit collaboration, ensuring sustained support for the Army’s mission to serve the people and secure the land.

Turnover Ceremony of Motor Pool Maintenance 7-Bay Facility

Camp Arturo T Enrile, Malagutay, Zamboanga City — On October 23, 2025, the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion formally handed over the newly constructed Motor Pool Maintenance 7-Bay Facility to the 2nd Logistics Support Group (2LSG), Army Support Command, Philippine Army, during a Turnover Ceremony held at Camp Arturo T Enrile, Malagutay, Zamboanga City.

The event was led by LTC BENJAMIN B CARAG II CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion, 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade, Philippine Army. The project was constructed under the leadership of 1LT SHALIMAR ELVIN M SAWATE (CE) PA, Commanding Officer of Alpha Company, highlighting the Philippine Army’s commitment to infrastructure development in support of its maintenance and logistical operations.

COL DONALD C HUGO CE (GSC) PA, Chief of Staff, 54th Engineer Brigade, representing BGEN DARWIN F HERNANDEZ PA, Commander of the 54th Engineer “Sarangay” Brigade, graced the ceremony as Guest of Honor and Speaker. Also present were COL ROWELL S VELASQUEZ OS (MNSA) PA, Group Commander, 2LSG, SPT COM, PA; LTC BERNARD S BAYUDANG OS (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 2nd Maintenance Battalion, 2LSG, SPT COM, PA; CPT RONNIE P INIS (CHS) PA, Post Chaplain, NIF-WM; and other officers and personnel of the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion.

The program commenced with the blessing of the facility officiated by CPT INIS, followed by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and the signing of turnover documents, symbolizing the formal handover of the project to the end-user.

In his message, COL HUGO commended the 547th Engineer (Agila) Battalion for their dedication and professionalism in completing the project. He emphasized that the new facility will greatly enhance the 2LSG’s capacity to sustain mission readiness and effectively support Army operations.

This turnover marks another milestone in the Philippine Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational capabilities through infrastructure development and inter-unit collaboration.
