Sepac, Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental. Ang maong benepisyo gihatag ilawom sa High Value Crop - Coconut Insurance Program sa PCIC pinaagi sa Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CFITF).

Ang mga mag-uuma sa lubi nga mopaimpluwensya sa pagpa-insure sa ilang tanom nga kalubian ilawom sa maong programa, dili lang protektado ang ilang tanom apan apil usab ang death benefit package nga makatabang sa pamilya sa panahon sa kalisod.

🌊 𝐑𝐎 9 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲! 🌊

With gloves in hand and sacks on their shoulders, PCIC Region 9 employees gathered along Dipolog Boulevard on August 29, 2025, for a mission beyond crop insurance — caring for the environment.💚

Led by Regional Manager II Virgie A. Baroy, together with Chief CAD Edilberto Dondoyano, OIC-AFD Regine Fuentes, and OIC-MSD Isagani F. Templanza III, the team joined forces with CENRO-Dipolog to collect plastic waste and debris along the coastline.

The activity was part of RO 9's Corporate Social Responsibility.

As the sun rose, so did their sense of purpose — proving that protecting farmers also means protecting the land and sea that sustain us all. 🌍✨

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) IX, has reached out to 36 members of the 𝘉𝘢𝘫𝘢𝘰 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 in Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay through an orientation on PCIC's seaweed, banca, and life insurance products, particularly the Accident and Dismemberment Security Scheme (ADSS).

Insurance Underwriter Rodel Plando led the orientation, emphasizing how life, fisheries, and banca insurance can serve as safety nets in times of calamities or livelihood crisis for smallholder fisherfolk and vulnerable groups, particularly the Bajao community, many of whom rely on fishing and seaweed farming for daily subsistence. 🐟💙

Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX took part in the 2025 National Coconut Week Celebration on August 12-13, 2025 at the Boulevard, Dipolog City, with the theme: “𝓝𝓲𝔂𝓸𝓰: 𝓖𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓸 𝓼𝓪 𝓚𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓴𝓲𝓻𝓪𝓷, 𝓗𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓭 𝓪𝔂 𝓚𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓱𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓷 𝓪𝓽 𝓢𝓪𝓷𝓭𝓲𝓰𝓪𝓷 𝓼𝓪 𝓚𝓪𝓾𝓷𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓷 𝓷𝓰 𝓑𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓷. " 🌴✨

Representing PCIC Region IX, Regional Manager II Virgie Baroy and Marketing & Sales Division OIC Chief Isagani Templanza III presented the agency’s coconut tree insurance program. They also shared updates on the region’s coconut production and claims accomplishments, as well as the benefits extended to farmers through the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).

As of August 2025, PCIC reported that almost 45,000 farmers across region IX enrolled for coconut tree insurance, and 20 of them already received indemnity payments amounting to more than ₱70,000 in total for coconut tree claims. In addition, over ₱1 million was granted to more than 100 farmers through the built-in death benefit component of the coconut tree insurance program under CFIDP.

This event, hosted by Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Region IX, brought together coconut farmers, cooperatives, and partner agencies to promote sustainable livelihood and recognize the vital role of the coconut industry in the community. 💚

In line with the celebration of 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒂𝒚 on Monday, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟱,𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX and Extension Offices, will be 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 for the holiday, pursuant to Proclamation No. 727 s. 2024.

Regular office operations will be back on Tuesday, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX, through its focal person Krystyl Pearl Arbas, participated via Zoom in the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program Assessment and Planning session on August 7, 2025.

EPAHP aims to eradicate hunger, achieve food security and make agriculture sustainable. And as partner-agency, PCIC plays a vital role in providing agricultural insurance coverage to farmers, fisherfolk, community-based organizations and other EPAHP beneficiaries; helping them protect livelihoods against losses due to calamities, pests, and diseases.

In collaboration with other support agencies, this activity strengthens convergence as they jointly reviewed accomplishments and outlined strategies to better support agricultural communities in combating hunger and poverty.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX presented the corporation’s products and services at the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) Registration Caravan cm Learning Session, organized by the Department of Agrarian Reform IX (DAR-IX), in partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Held on July 29-30, 2025, the two-day activity at Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City gathered a total of twenty (20) ARBOs with their officers and representatives coming from Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay to formalize their CDA registration and access wider government support from various agencies.

Marketing and Sales Division OIC-Chief Isagani Templanza III represented PCIC IX and delivered an in-depth orientation on crop insurance programs, citing corresponding premium rates, coverage limits, and claims processes of each program to help farmer-beneficiaries maximize insurance protection.

The event featured participations from various government agencies, reinforcing commitments to safeguard farmers’ livelihoods by engaging directly with the ARBOs across Zamboanga Peninsula. 🫡

Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Region IX (PCIC IX) took part in the Fisheries Extension Worker (FEW) Semi-annual Meeting held at Butuay, Jimenez on July 30, 2025, to introduce the enrollment process of Non-Crop Agricultural Asset Insurance (NCAAI) program to the fisheries technicians from the region.

Organized by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Region X (BFAR-X) through its Provincial Fisheries Office in Misamis Occidental, the meeting brought together more than thirty (30) fisheries technicians from various LGUs across Misamis Occidental for a day-long event focused on reviewing accomplishments, planning future activities, and discussing insurance policy updates that impact local fisherfolk.

Insurance Underwriter Ralph Jerome Salting presented the PCIC insurance programs, particularly highlighting fisheries and fishing boat insurance enrollment process under the NCAAI program. IU Salting also brought up the regular life insurance program specifically the Accident and Dismemberment Security Scheme (ADSS).

The orientation intends to equip local fisheries extension workers with essential knowledge on insurance coverage options, claims processes, and enrollment guidelines to Fasttrack the process and expand coverage among fisherfolk and farmers in the province.

PCIC IX’s continued partnership with BFAR-X and local government units strengthens support services for communities engaged in agriculture and fisheries in the province. 🤝

𝐏𝐂𝐈𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐗 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐝-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 📊💡

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) Region IX held its Mid-Year Regional Planning Conference on July 28, gathering more than eighty (80) personnel, including virtual participation from the extension offices, to assess accomplishments, revisit shortcomings, and recalibrate strategies and plans toward meeting 2025 targets.

Held at the New Roxan Hotel, the meeting highlighted marketing production accomplishments and performance review among Insurance Underwriters reported by OIC-Chief Maria Lizzel Bomediano, prompting calls for intensified enrollment outreach and field monitoring. Division Chief Edilberto Dondoyano on the other hand raised concerns over a drop in claims payouts compared to the same period last year, due to manpower constraints and a spike in claims reporting. Yet Chief Dondoyano reaffirms Claims Adjustment Divison's (CAD’s) commitment to timely claim settlement responses.

The conference also featured a briefing on Geographic Information System (GIS) tools by Insurance Adjuster Jessie Bucol to support claims validation and post-planting inspections. Audit and financial updates were likewise presented by OIC-Chief Regine Fuentes, with attention drawn to findings concerning delays in indemnity settlements.

As the conference concluded, Regional Manager Virgie Baroy commended the unwavering efforts of Region IX personnel and called for bridging performance gaps with only months left to end the year. A push for more visible field presence was also emphasized by RM Baroy, including deeper coordination with partner agencies and engagement with farmers and fisherfolk. 🌾🐟

RO 9 conducts orientation in Tawi-Tawi, assists subsistence farmers avail free insurance

More than a hundred coconut farmers from the province of Tawi-Tawi participated in an orientation on the free coconut crop insurance under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) on June 24-25, 2025.

The farmers came from the barangays of Mongkay, Tampakan, and Bakong in Simunul Island and were assisted in filing their respective insurance applications. Under the CFIDP, subsistence coconut farmers listed in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System are qualified to get free crop insurance.

Insurance Underwriter Napoleon Barad Jr. led the activity. Philippine Coconut Authority Tawi-Tawi Personnel Head Nur-aina Ingkagan also lent valuable assistance to the PCIC personnel.
