Evidence presented by the House prosecution panel during Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial could help the Office of the Ombudsman expedite its investigation and prepare possible criminal charges, House prosecution spokesperson Ace Barbers said.

The panel has presented witnesses and documentary evidence concerning the alleged misuse of ₱612.5 million in confidential funds.

Barbers said the evidence presented during the impeachment proceedings could assist the Ombudsman in advancing its investigation into the allegations against the Vice President.

House prosecutor Terry Ridon takes a swipe at Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense team, saying they should have presented their evidence after the prosecution completed its presentation for each article of impeachment.

“Parang tatlong oras nang pag-iyak ang ginawa ng depensa,” Ridon remarked.

He added that the prosecution would leave it to the impeachment court to decide whether to convict or acquit Duterte on the remaining charge of unexplained wealth.

“Pababayaan ho namin ’yung korte na magpasya whether to convict or to acquit the Vice President on a singular charge of unexplained wealth,” he said.
