Davao Quake Death Toll Rises to 7

Umakyat na sa pito (7) ang bilang ng mga nasawi matapos ang malakas na magnitude 7.4 na lindol na yumanig sa Davao Region kaninang umaga, Oktubre 10, 2025.

Ayon kay Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 11 Director Ednar Dayanghirang, tatlo sa mga nasawi ay mula sa Mati City, Davao Oriental, tatlo naman mula sa Pantukan, Davao de Oro, at isa sa Davao City.

Patuloy ang isinasagawang rescue at assessment operations ng mga otoridad sa mga apektadong lugar upang matukoy ang lawak ng pinsala at matulungan ang mga residente na labis na naapektuhan ng pagyanig

Earthquake Response Update
12noon, October 10

The City of Davao emergency response teams, including the CDRRMO, CHO, CEO, and OCBO, have been deployed to conduct rapid assessments on the ground and assist individuals affected by this morning’s earthquake.

The CDRRMO is closely monitoring coastal areas and coordinating with relevant government agencies in anticipation of possible aftershocks.

Meanwhile, CSWDO teams are on standby to support any necessary relief operations.

As of 12 noon today, no reported confirmed casualty (death) in the city related to the earthquake.

Philippine Red Cross, Agad Rumesponde sa Lindol sa Mati City

Agad na nakaantabay ang mga volunteer at staff ng Philippine Red Cross (PRC) upang tumulong sa mga residenteng naapektuhan ng malakas na lindol sa Mati City, Davao Oriental.

Ayon sa PRC, umabot na sa 371 katao ang kanilang nasaklolohan at nabigyan ng agarang tulong. Patuloy din ang kanilang operasyon sa mga apektadong lugar upang magbigay ng first aid, psychosocial support, at emergency evacuation sa mga nangangailangan.

Tiniyak ng PRC na mananatili silang handang magresponde hangga’t may mga pamilyang nangangailangan ng tulong at proteksyon.

3 Patay sa Landslide sa Pantukan

Umabot sa tatlo ang nasawi sa naganap na landslide sa Barangay Gumayan, Kingking, Pantukan, Davao de Oro kaninang umaga, Oktubre 10, 2025, kasabay ng malakas na lindol.

Kinumpirma ni Kapitan Joey Caballero na tatlong buhay ang nasawi sa naturang insidente.

“Sa kabila ng pangyayari, lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa ating kasundalohan, kapulisan, MDRRMO, at higit sa lahat sa ating mga kababayan sa Gumayan na nagbayanihan upang mailigtas ang ilan sa mga naipit sa pagyanig. Kahit pa may tatlong buhay na nawala, patuloy pa rin tayong magpasalamat sa ating Panginoon,”
ani Punong Barangay Joey Caballero sa kanyang Facebook post.

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck offshore at 7:12 p.m. (Oct. 10), prompting Phivolcs to issue again a tsunami warning for nearby coastal areas in Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Surigao del Norte.

“Gross and Disgraceful”: Rep. Paolo Duterte Vows Appeal After Father’s Detention

Representative Paolo Duterte blasted a recent judicial decision as a “gross and disgraceful miscarriage of justice,” calling it “political theater” and announcing plans to appeal.

In a brief but fiery statement, Rep. Duterte said his 80-year-old father, now out of office, has been subjected to political persecution since leaving power. He insisted the elder Duterte is “definitely not a flight risk” and said the family believes he would have preferred to remain in the Philippines.

“To all kidnappers of my father I will make sure that you will pay for this crime that you have committed,” Rep. Duterte said, accusing unnamed actors and alleging the CIA’s involvement in what he described as a criminal act. He warned that the detention could make his father a martyr and deepen public anger and support.

“We’ll appeal. We’ll fight this by the book. And by the grace of the almighty, my father will go home to his beloved Philippines,” he added, thanking Filipinos for their continued support.

Following the powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Davao Oriental, Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang personally led an on-site inspection to assess the province’s condition and ensure public safety. The governor first conducted an aerial surveillance over the Municipality of Manay, the epicenter of the quake, to closely observe the extent of damage to homes and infrastructures in the area.

He also visited the newly constructed Provincial Capitol Building to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the facility and the security of government employees. Accompanying the governor were technical teams from the Provincial Engineer’s Office led by Provincial Engineer Ruel C. Dumadag, who conducted initial assessments of potential damages requiring immediate attention.

Governor Dayanghirang underscored that the safety of the people and the continuity of essential public services remain the top priorities of the provincial government in the aftermath of the earthquake.
