Over a hundred stakeholders trooped to Cabatuan National High School (CNHS) for the first General Parent-Teacher Association (GPTA) Assembly last July 18, 2026, 7:30 a.m., at the school ground, with GPTA election and student performance update topping the list of agenda.
The program opened with a prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The assembly then proceeded with the nomination and election of the GPTA officers for the school year.
Mr. Aikel Pajaroja was elected GPTA president after receiving 42 votes. Mrs. Ruby Ferreras was declared vice president by default. Mrs. Liliosa Plandiano won the secretary position with 33 votes, while Mrs. Riza Acibar was elected treasurer with 50 votes. Mrs. Ligaya Montibon secured the auditor position with 41 votes, and Mr. Paternino Sabalza Jr. became the public information officer (PIO) by default. Mrs. Mary Rose Cristo was elected business manager with 31 votes.
For the protocol officers, Mrs. Paulatina Plandiano received 35 votes, while Mr. Arthur Getalado garnered 34 votes. The elected Board of Directors included Mrs. Maileen Ferreras, Mrs. Lucy Giray, Mrs. Hilda Globio, Mrs. Marisa Cristo, Mrs. Marites Acquiat, Mr. David Caparal, and Mr. Cherie Tendoy.
Following the election, the newly elected GPTA President Aikel Pajaroja thanked the parents and teachers for their trust and support. He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in achieving the school's goals.
Thereafter, Ms. Jennifer Laoreno presented the financial statement, including the report on the funds raised during the Alumni Homecoming. She said the proceeds were used to purchase long tables and monoblock chairs for the Senior High School Department.
During his closing remarks, CNHS school head, Mr. Deems Evan Mengulo, thanked the parents, teachers, alumni, and GPTA officers for their continued support. He also informed the assembly about the upcoming regional PTA election and reminded everyone that, under DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2009, a GPTA president who has completed a one-year term is no longer eligible to run for the same position in the succeeding year.
The assembly also approved the โฑ50.00 PTA contribution for the current school year and discussed the participation of the CNHS Band and Lyre in the Vesper Day celebration in Palapag, including the preparation of costumes and other needed materials.
The assembly concluded with a renewed commitment from the newly elected officers, school officials, parents, and teachers to work together in strengthening programs and projects that will benefit the learners of Cabatuan National High School.
