Catubig stands as the province's proud rice granary, a testament to its fertile lands, bountiful harvests, and commitment to sustainable farming practices. The municipalityโs sprawling rice fields, nourished by the life-giving waters of the majestic Catubig River, are cultivated through organic agriculture, ensuring that the soil remains rich and the environment is protected.
The river, weaving through the town at approximately 55.7-kilometer stretch, is not only an agricultural lifeline but also a cultural symbol, shaping the daily lives and traditions of Catubignons.
In Catubig, nature's abundance meets the ingenuity of its people, who believe in the values of pagsarangkay (friendship) and pagburobligay (mutual aid), making it a cornerstone of Northern Samar's agricultural identity.

In April 1900, Filipino forces successfully resisted the American troops in the Battle of Catubig, a significant moment in the Philippine struggle for independence. A historical marker commemorates the town's role, marking its connection to national history and honor the fallen heroes of Catubig and the Philippines.

The Catubig Church, formally known as the Saint Joseph the Worker Parish Church, stands as a historic and spiritual landmark in the municipality of Catubig. The church was beautifully built of stone with a galvanized iron roof between 1885โ1888, followed by the addition of a belfry in 1892.
Over the years, the church has witnessed to significant events in Catubigโs history, serving as a sanctuary during times of hardship and a gathering place for celebrations and worship.
