𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗟𝗟 | Adopt-A-School’s Project Wonder

In the pursuit to cultivate and nurture scientific minds, Iskolab and Likharaya launched Project Wonder on September 4–5 as part of the Adopt-a-School initiative at PSHS-EVC. The event gathered teachers and students from various schools in Leyte under the theme “Unlocking Curiosity Through Thinking, Creating, and Exploring.”

The first day featured the Teachers’ Edition, which offered talk sessions on biology, physics, engineering, and innovation. These sessions were facilitated by Mr. Tito Cachero, Engr. Xavier Delos Reyes, Mr. Nestor P. Carlon Jr., and Mrs. Cyrill D. Tapales, who shared their expertise to enrich and inspire participating educators.

The second day was dedicated to the Students’ Edition, where 40 learners from Palo explored the laboratories of PSHS-EVC. Through hands-on activities and experiments, the students experienced how science shapes the world around them in practical and engaging ways.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Assistant CID Chief, Ma’am Nikki Rabe. Project Wonder aimed to spark curiosity in science and technology through experiential learning, while also supporting schools by opening access to the expertise and facilities of PSHS-EVC.

“And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt.”

These words, drawn from ancient scripture, echo in a modern Philippines where every storm exposes the rot. When the rains come, rivers overflow, roads transform into canals, and lives are once again paused because the State has failed to deliver what was promised. Yet, on glowing phone screens, another kind of flood surges forth — a flood of excess, of wealth so casually flaunted that it mocks the suffering outside.

To commemorate the conclusion of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, Pisay-EVC held its culminating program yesterday with the theme “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa.” Led by the Filipino Unit and assisted by CAFÉ Pisay, the event honored the diversity of our native languages while highlighting the unity they foster.

Scholars showcased their talents through contests such as Tinig Pisay (Grade 7-8), Pagsulat ng Sanaysay (Grade 9), and Sabayang Pagbigkas (Grade 10-12), alongside performances from Musikanta and Pisayaw. The program concluded with the announcement of winners and a closing speech by the Filipino Unit Head, Ma’am Vesifina Ron.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗢𝗠

Today, August 25, we honor the lives of our national heroes who bravely fought for our country’s freedom. Their legacy stands as a reminder of the struggle to keep seeking light for our motherland.

National Heroes' Day also recognizes those who live beyond the pages of history, our modern-day heroes and all who continue to strive for the true freedom our nation longs for. This day is a tribute to both the memory of those who came before and the resilience of those who still face uncertainty today.

Their spirit of service and sacrifice endures. Their courage inspires, and their legacy lives on in the life of our nation.

Happy National Heroes’ Day!
