Have you ever checked out a newly renovated restroomโ€ฆ only to be greeted by an unflushed offering?

The cubicle doors are new, the mirrors spotless โ€” but no amount of glow-up can mask the uncanny aroma of unwanted restroom legacies.

It turns out, a fresh look doesnโ€™t always flush out old habits.

July 11, 2025 - The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers - Holy Angel University Junior Unit (PSME-HAUJU) successfully conducted its General Assembly today at the St. Joseph Hall Building (SJH) Academic Hall, gathering aspiring mechanical engineers for a full day of insights, engagement, and motivation.

The assembly formally started with the opening remarks of Jigen Neil S. Bonifacio, PSME-HAUJUโ€™s President, offering his personal message to inspire, empower, and connect with the students.

Setting the tone for the event, Engr. Paul Sanchez conducted a leadership talk, highlighting the importance of engineers in driving progress and innovation. This was followed with an internship orientation from the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) Administrator Mr. Jose L. David, providing valuable information for students preparing for exposure in industries. A motivating keynote talk was also delivered by Engr. Rio Ocampo with a theme entitled "Empowered Balance," highlighting the importance of balancing academics and personal growth.

To keep the assembly engaging, a series of icebreaker and quiz games were conducted in-between the talks, fostering active participation from the attendees.

The Mechanical Engineering faculty, both full-time and part-time instructors, were introduced during the event. Students were able to meet the whole ME faculty, fostering a stronger academic community in the mechanical engineering course.

PSME-HAUJU also unveiled its upcoming activities and initiatives for the academic year 2025-2026. These include the much-anticipated ME Days, which include both sports and academic activities, SolidWorks Mania, community outreach programs, and many more.

The event ran from 11:00AM to 5:00PM today, ending the event with Dr. Renalito Marceloโ€™s closing remarks, who commended the organizationโ€™s efforts and encouraging camaraderie from all mechanical engineering students.

Justine Kervy Rebutoc was officially elected as the new Commissioner on Student Organizations (CSO) of the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following the resignation of the previous commissioner.

The election was conducted after the position was declared vacant. College Student Council โ€“ School of Engineering and Architecture (CSC-SEA) Governor-Elect Marc Adrian Lloyd A. Cordero convened the heads of recognized student organizations in the college to nominate and elect a new commissioner.

Rebutoc, a student from the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering program, was elected by the organization heads during the special election. The process was witnessed by Commission on Elections representative Mary Angelyn Razon.

The appointment was formalized through Memorandum Circular No. 2, Series of 2025โ€“2026, issued by the Office of the Governor, certifying Rebutocโ€™s assumption of office.

As CSO commissioner, Rebutoc is expected to coordinate with and represent all recognized student organizations within the college for Academic Year 2025โ€“2026.

Alongside this development, the Holy Angel University Student Government (HAUSG) marked a significant milestone with the ratification of its revised Constitution on June 28, 2025. A key feature of this updated charter is the creation of a new Department of Business Relations within the executive branches of each schoolโ€™s student government, as mandated by Section 13, Article III of the 2024 HAUSG Constitution.

Following the declination of initial candidates Riccel Carmela Lazatin, Klodette Andrea Atencio, and Shanaira Louise Santosโ€”the top unproclaimed vote-getters in the last SEA-CSC electionsโ€”Kyrene Ta-asan, a third-year Aeronautical Engineering student, assumed office as the inaugural councilor for the Department of Business Relations on July 4, 2025.

Councilor Ta-asan and her executive associates will now oversee the schoolโ€™s sponsorships, partnerships, marketing, and institutional collaborationsโ€”marking the beginning of a new department aimed at strengthening SEAโ€™s ties with external stakeholders.

I tell myself Iโ€™m glad that I didnโ€™t get to know you well enough to recognize the scent of your perfume.

Itโ€™s easier that way.

But sometimes, Iโ€™m jealous of people who are close to you.
I donโ€™t know if I should be envious because they know everything about you,
or if I should be relieved that I donโ€™t know a thing.

Should I be grateful that I donโ€™t know your favorite color?
Should I be glad that I can walk past every perfume without knowing itโ€™ll be you?

I know that I should because it lessens the heartache.
Yet, thereโ€™s still a part of me that wants to know you like nobody else does.
To know your dreams, big or small as long as I get to know you more.

maybe a couple of years,
maybe itโ€™s been far too long,
far too long your roots have almost -

thinned to nothing.

yet,
your roots have known many seasons;
enough seasons,
to wait for the sun to rise again.

And the sun will,
rise again,
wiping the last drop of rain on your withered petals,
spreading roots further beneath your world,
turning to every light it gives,

you always had your roots,
you always will,
to wait for the sun to rise again.

I built myself with patient hands,
Yet let it go just before it ever lands.
Each drop a piece of who I'd be,
I spill the cup deliberately.

I wait for signs, the perfect time,
But silence answers every rhyme.
Convinced that more is yet to come,
But all my work feels numb and dumb.

Prepare, then pause, then let it fallโ€”
To dream, to fear, then lose it all.
A life rehearsed and tossed like soup,
Itโ€™s all Iโ€™ve known, this quiet loop.

I see the version I outgrew,
She lived the things I never do.
The one who ran while I stood still,
Held tight fire that I let chill.

She is the โ€œmeโ€ Iโ€™ll never beโ€“
Sheโ€™s risk and wonder, bold and free.
She left the place I couldnโ€™t leave.
The life I mourn, the one I grieve.

Now water trickles the floor,
I watched it fade, then ask once more:
I cry and say, โ€œWas I really the only one to blame?โ€
While I see each drop, a piece I wonโ€™t reclaim.

And now the water almost gone,
The cup I poured so much upon.
A slow, unending, silent dripโ€“
Now dry from every loosened grip.

Our Story

The Philippines was still recuperating from the painful traces of the Marcos regime when the School of Engineering and Architecture of Holy Angel University, Angeles City gave birth to an institution that would advance the rights and welfare of the engineering populace. In June of 1986, student leaders Renato David and Ronaldo Juanatas spear headed the setting of a student publication in the college. It was their noble task to carry out their endeavor as they deemed a student publication as the only medium where the students pleas and concerns would be best heard-out. The two leaders went through a very tiring and deciding job on how they will be able to form a publication with a firm foundation of principles and vehement idealism and patriotism.

The members contemplated on what particular word was the most commonly used in engineering and likewise depicted a positive connotation when uttered. The term SOLUTION became popular after a series of consultations with both the students and the faculty. Hence, it was adapted and became the banner of the School of Engineering and Architecture Official Student Publication.

Since the, The Solution has been serving as a gateway fo the engineering students in promoting their democratic rights. It also became a source of information especially with regards to the undertaking of the college.

Today alongside the other student publications of Holy Angel University, The Solution continues to carry on with its motto: "Differentiated Views, Integrated Truth."
