๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ โ€“ On a cloudy Tuesday morning, applicants for Herald and Siglo showcased their journalistic skills in the schoolโ€™s reportorial examination.

Aspiring student-journalists from Junior High School and Senior High School took the test as part of the selection process for the new batch of reportorial staff.

Writer-applicants were tested in two areas: grammar and writing. They completed the tasks in headline writing, news writing, copyreading, feature writing, and column writing. Meanwhile, photojournalism and editorial cartooning took a separate set of tests.

After the exam, applicants underwent one-on-one interview with the school paper advisers, Ms. Sharon Rose Suarez (Herald) and Ms, Kimberly Mae Pineda (Siglo), assisted by current staff from both publications.

The reportorial exam ran from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM.

Each applicant will be notified by the school paper advisers regarding the results and the next steps in the selection process.

Herald is the ACNTS official publication in English, while Siglo is the schoolโ€™s official publication in Filipino.

๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ โ€“ Dr. Elmer S. Dayrit discussed several issues and concerns during the first General Parent Teachers Association (GPTA) Assembly of S.Y. 2025 โ€“ 2026 at the school covered court.

Parents, teachers, and department heads gathered for the first GPTA of the school year.

Grade 9 and Grade 10 parents attended the first batch of the assembly at 08:00 AM, followed by Grade 7 parents at 10:00 AM, and Grade 8 parents at 01:00 PM.

Dr. Elmer S. Dayrit, school principal, discussed matters about studentsโ€™ academic performance, behavior, new school uniform and insurance for Traders.

He presented data from SY 2024 โ€“ 2025 showing an increased number of studentsโ€™ dropout, low proficiency levels in both literacy and numeracy, and concerns about studentsโ€™ attitude and behavior.

He explained that the usual reasons why students withdrew from school were family-related issues, which affected their attendance and academic progress.

Dr. Dayrit also reported that literacy and numeracy results showed that many learners no longer possessed the expected reading comprehension and analytical thinking skills. He further noted that students nowadays tend to exhibit poor behaviour and low emotional resilience.

He urged the parents to take a more proactive role in disciplining and educating their children, emphasizing that the home is the primary source of discipline and learning. He also pointed out that teachers have limited disciplinary authority compared to parents.

Part of the discussion included the presentation of the new official ACNTS uniform, patterned after the PE uniform design - consisting of polo shirt and jogging pants. The design was based on practicality, comfort (to allow freedom of movement during practices and TVE tasks), and uniformity, while also promoting gender neutrality among Traders.

Dr. Dayrit concluded his talk by proposing student insurance for Junior High School students. He cited various accidents and incidents that had occurred since 2023, which had caused the school financial strain due to medical expenses and assistance for injured students. These events were not included in the schoolโ€™s regular budget, he said.

Advisers conducted Homeroom PTA meetings in their respective classrooms after the GPTA assembly.
